Just for reference, this is the first year that a team with Seth Tuttle on it will have less than 14 losses.

A player like say, Tekele Cotton, has accrued 19 losses TOTAL in his 4 years.

The absolute WORST career win% Cotton can end up with is 85%. The absolute BEST career win% Tuttle can end up with is 66%.

Seth Tuttle should have won the award. Glad he did. Very deserving.

[QUOTE=WuDrWu;550833]If you were going to put together a team of Valley players to beat Kentucky, who would you pick first?

This is the team I would pick to beat "KY"
          Starters
          1 - FVV
          2 - RB
          3 - Tekele Cotton
          4 - Seth Tuttle
          5 - Mock

          Bench
          1 - Washpun
          2 - Balentine
          3 - Evan W.
          4 - Darius
          5 - Lynch

          Others
          Mitchell UNI

          forgot the most important:

          Coach G. Marshall

I don't have an "issue" with Tuttle winning it. I will say that I think the reason Fred or Ron didn't it is .... well ... Fred and Ron. They didn't "shine" as bright because there are two All-Americans on the same team along with one of the most under-appreciated players in America (Cotton). Fred and Ron split the "WSU" vote.

With that said ... Cotton being left off First Team is a travesty. Seriously he should get an award for MUP in all of the NCAA (Most Under-Appreciated Player). Who wants to make him that trophy?

I don't have a huge problem with Tuttle getting the nod this year, but leaving TC off of the first team is asinine. Since asinine has become analogous to MVC we can't be surprised.

I anticipate Coach Jacobson will win the COY award. On the face of it he should finishing he the conference at 16-2 (5 games clear of 3rd place) with only 1 All-Conference player. I'm sure HCBJ will consider the COY year to be a team award.

So having the POY and COY are nice consolation prizes and well deserved.
You'd think that the team with the best player and best coach would win the league.

This isn't the MVC's fault. It's just the result of the voting system.

Has any 4-year Valley player won more 1) Regular season league games and/or 2) Total games, than Tekele Cotton?

The closest I have come up with for league games is the 02-05 SIU teams that won 62. Cotton has 63. Anyone remember a 3-4 year run of dominance by a team that might challenge that number?

The 03-06 SIU teams won 103 games, so he is well clear of that number. I assume if I start going back far enough any increase in efficiency (Cotton is at 86%) would also have a significant decrease in raw total?

Tuttle is a very good player. Having said that - I think the non WSU teams and media are looking for any opportunity to vote for someone other than a WSU Player/Coach.

Last year there was no competition - This year UNI is a very good team.

Cotton is an elite player in this $hitty league. He should have made 1st team. NO DOUBT.

I guess basketball is still won by the best team.

I hope Tekele will value his Shocker Hall of Fame Plaque and induction as much or more than any Valley award he could ever receive. Not exactly sure when he will be eligible but I look forward to it. I think he will become eligible for the HOF Class of 2021.

Agreed. Evansville has 2 great players. It is their 3-10 where they have a complete drop off from what the Shox have, and 3-10 is why Evansville is where they are and not up top with WSU and UNI.

If we are going to talk about winners then Evan Wessel has to at least be in the discussion.

Obviously, the people who voted are used to giving out participation ribbons at the Y. My problems with all of this are as follows: Tekele not on first team this year or last year for that matter, only 1 player from UNI on 1st or 2nd team, 2 players from Eville on first team (are the rest of the guys on that team the last guys picked at the "Y"). Whatever, I'm just glad our guys got the real prize.

WSU & UNI dominated this conference this year...they should dominate the All Conference Awards. Reminds me of 2012 during Toure's senior year when he was only Honorable Mention.
