BJ did a great job at UNI this year but he has the probable Valley POY and a team heavily populated by Seniors and Juniors. He is benefiting from his underperformance last year. OTOH 3G is probably hurt by his outperformance last year.
Nevertheless I expect BJ to be COY and Seth Tuttle to be POY and I really don't have much trouble with that.Last edited by 1972Shocker; March 2, 2015, 02:42 PM.

Hard not to argue with Tuttle as POY.
Interesting that Shaq Morris made a couple (maybe 3?) all newcomer squads. Some people grumble about our front-line newcomers, but for Shaq to receive some consideration for this honor on such a loaded team tells you a lot about what other people think his ceiling might be.

FYI on voting procedures:
Four individuals from each institution will cast his/her ballot:head coach, sports information director, newspaper beat writerand radio play-by-play. MVC TV Network play-by-play and analysts will also serve on the voting panel.
Votes will be weighted with coaches' votes comprising 40% of the total.

A 300+ non-con RPI should remove you from CoY consideration. Let's not start rewarding Evansvilling.

Here's the case for Lansing now that it's March. I'm not sure I disagree so much now that we are here. I made fun of it two months ago, but now it's a little more believable.
1. You can never give it to Muller. He is exempt.
2. Moser tanked.
3. Simmons tanked.
4. Obviously, the Thursday teams arent under consideration. Unless you coached a high school team to 6th place in the MVC.
NOTE: you are now choosing between Marshall, Jacobsen and Lansing.
5. You can't vote for Marshall if you are Paul S. or if you are butt hurt and from UNI.
Conclusion: if you are from UNI, and you are butt hurt or tired of watching HCGM ownage, you have no choice but to go Lansing because you can't vote Jacobsen. Lansing did finish third after all and they were REALLY bad in December. There was some element of resurgence to get back to .500.
If you are Paul S you have to choose between the team that did exactly what they were projected to do or the team that started terrible and finished well.

I don't think it's a big deal or sour grapes that UNI guy voted for who he did. If you asked him who the best coach in the Valley is he would probably say Gregg Marshall but that doesn't mean he has to vote for him year after year. It's like the NBA MVP voter fatigue. Lebron is probably the best player in the league but he doesn't get MVP every year cause it's boring. Lansing turned a 4-8 team into 3rd place in the Valley and Giacoletti navigated drake out of the play in game for the first time in forever.
Gregg Marshall is the best coach in the MVC. But it wouldn't be an outrage if Jacobson, Lansing, or to a much lesser extent Giacoletti won COY.
