Stallworth's game against Cincy was loud, loud, loud. That was a knockdown dragout game of behemoths at the time.

A physician called into a radio show and said:

I haven't been to nearly as many games as probably most on here but it was insanely loud yesterday. We drove up from Dallas at 4am, almost had a near death experience on I35 after OKC, but made the game & it was worth it. Then drove right back after.

What was funny was the comments on Twitter when time out promotions killed the noise. Here is one from Paul Sullentrop:

That was pretty loud. Musical chairs always does a nice job getting people to quiet down.
There was also a comment from one of the national media members about this on twitter.
But the crowd, and the Shockers, didn't disappoint.
That was the only negative about yesterday. And the dumbass athletic department will continue to look the other way and not do anything about it.
But the noise and energy level was pretty high yesterday. The TC dunk did it for me IMO. That was Top 3 loud at one point in time, at least. And in terms of overall loudness and crowd participation for a game, it also ranks Top 3.
I too was wiped out. And the best way possible of course.Deuces Valley.
... No really, deuces.

The promotions are just pathetic. Someone on SN a few days ago had mentioned getting chants going during the promotions to keep the energy going. I don't know if anyone actually tried it, but I just don't think it's even possible. The promotions just murder the energy in the building.

My gripe is can they find ways to better involve the crowd as a whole and improve what happens between a "promotion" and before the play resumes. I sit in the back half of the lower level and most people don't even bother to stand for a "giveaway prize" because it no longer goes past the first 10 rows. The men cheerleaders are only at half the games now, throw fewer prizes than the ladies when they are there, and some of them can't throw either (not that there's anything wrong with that). Go up into the stands, throw a lot more into the upper bowl, get everyone involved.
Can the cheerleaders, band, students, and admin come up with better ways to rev the crowd back up from a promo? The worse the crowd killing promo, the more aggressive they need to be to pump the crowd back up, not just a lively little ditty from the band. This is not a knock on the band. They are great and should be more, and better, utilized.

If there were not any timeout promotions yesterday, I could not have yelled any more than I already did. I am spent.
I agree that having the ability to call an audible every once in a while to help keep the atmosphere rolling through an opponent-called timeout would be nice. But I disagree that they are just making 'peanuts', and I personally cannot afford to make up that difference, nor do I want someone to ask Marshall to take a pay cut.

There's gotta be a better way. At this point, I'm actively reaching for my phone to twiddle on when I hear Don Hall begin his lameass intro into another lameass energy sucker. I'd rather read an RPI vs KenPom thread. Or am I crossing the line on that one?Deuces Valley.
