"He also threw out mild mannered Tim Miles." What ???? You know nothing about Tim Miles, zero.
But at least you made me chuckle.

Tell us how many games you have attended with a Tim Miles coached team?
Tell us how many you have sat right behind his bench and listened to him converse with officials?
Tell us how many games you have officiating a Tim Miles team?

You may try to portray yourself as having knowledge about a particular person or topic, but in reality, you don't know ****.

    That is all.
Above all, make the right call.

What a totally appropriate and proportionate response from the board's most-likely-to-be-outcharmed-by-a-schoolbus-fire poster.

Don't argue. Refs are always right. And they always know everything. And they are never holier-than-thou when yelling about it to everyone.

If an employee at McD's told a New Jersey born American of Indian descent that they would "Love to see their egyptian-ass make fries faster" they would be fired and deservedly, so.

This guy used ethnicity (not even the correct continent, bro) as a pejorative while on the clock. In what profession is that not a fireable offense?

Oh and he was terrible at his job.

I've never seen a more self-entitled collection of individuals on the planet than referees. And that goes for pretty much ALL levels.

                Two exceptions: 1. Stand-up comic
                2. VP Joe Biden
... although I'm not sure there's a real distinction between the two.

And cue the douches and let the ref bashing and the defenders of ref bashing begin. 2 in particular. Talk about holier than thou attitudes. Yes, the feistyness is still there, probably because of POSes that I have to deal with, not only on these boards but away from these boards. Again, 2 in particular. Well, maybe 3, or 4.

On to the topic at hand, Karl Hess at one time was a very good official. Then he worked a Final Four, got an ego, and now he thinks he's bigger than the game. But.. that's not what got him fired obviously. Despite the majority of ref bashers thinking he is a horrible official (which is partially true, although most ref bashers really have no clue), his "joking" is what got him fired? And if anybody really thinks what he said was a joke, they must not be too familiar with him. Karl Hess loves controversy.

That being said, the Tim Miles incident. I've seen several videos of Tim Miles in action. 1 recently where he started barking at another coach and had to be "held back" by one of his assistants. Biggest act I've ever seen and Bobby Knight he is not. However, to say he is a calm, mild mannered individual is far, far from the truth. ShockRef and I may not always agree, but I'm right there with him on this one.

I'd be inclined to say that ShockRef is getting as fed up with the constant ref bashing on this board as I am.. although we can both admit when a ref has a bad game.

Got to be hard to be a fan of college basketball...visit the fans favorite team message boards...and be a ref. What balance one must have. :)

You have no idea sir. The fan in me comes out as does the ref. It especially gets frustrating listening to the clueless ref bashers all the time. However, my latest trip to the hospital is going to leave a sour taste in my mouth, so this fan/ref may be even more grumpy for the next game

Thank you, you're one of the good guys on these boards. I will be fine, I always pull through. Sports keeps me going and somewhat sane

Does not change the fact that he is correct.

Wow...lot's of stuff here...sorry you two feel put upon for your profession .....actually do not 'bash' refs per se...hard job...tried it once to see if I would want to do it after my coaching career....not for me...always appreciated and thanked good jobs by refs...

I Have in fact met Miles once, and watched one game from somewhat afar...not any more of a 'barker' than any other major coach, in my opinion....I'm assuming, Ref, YOU have done his games since you seem to know what he is...and fanmas, the incident of restraint was with Tom Crean...who DOESN'T have a problem with Crean? I would guess the majority of Miles' peers have a great relationship with him...

Hope your games go better, and you feel more appreciated..it IS a tough job, but one you CHOOSE to do...

                                Thanks for the return chuckles.
