Agreed. It's really embarrassing. You can just feel it. I'm sure everyone is thinking about last year and comparing everything to last year. No 30 point beatdowns. If we don't win by at least 25, then something's gotta be wrong. This fanbase is starting to suck. They're taking things for granted. Better watch out..

To the fans' partial credit though, we had lots of chances to put the clowns out of their misery and either bricked a shot or turned the ball over. That's a crowd killer. The game lacked a lot of flow early as well. That doesn't help much.

But yeah, overall, the crowd is hung up around the early Turg days. Pretty disconcerting.

    • I just watched film and thought the crowd sounded great.

There was almost no flow to the game and the crowd got behind guys like EW getting nasty (and it didn't take three plays for the crowd to show their appreciation).

        • Usually the student section has energy at the beginning of the game, and you can feel it in the arena. Not tonight. That mixed in with a lack of rhythm had a different feel.

          • FWIW...on tv the crowd was pretty decent I thought. Giving Evan some well deserved rep on a couple/few occasions was very nice to see/hear!!!! After TC dunk....my God!!!! Announcers were SHOCKED "silent" for a few after that one. Jaw-dropping dunk! Jaw-dropping NOISE!!!! There was a few times where the game (Shocks) needed a little sumthing....and the crowd came through (at least on tv). To be honest...reading the weather reports...I was again reminded of the GREAT SHOCKER FANS!!!!!!! You guys sure ROCK the HOUSE!!!!!!!!

            • I agree on the fans. Been a peeve of mine for a while. I have not made many friends in 118. In the Alabama game I was going nuts trying to get everyone going earlier. I even stood for the whole 2nd half from about 5 min in. Luckily most of my row did the same. I was surprised I didn't get yelled at, but I was making a point. And honestly I don't even give a damn if you sit on your ass all game. Doesn't matter if you are young or old, EVERYONE can make some kind of noise. I mean why wouldn't you? Look at the money you pay! MAKE NOISE!!! AND don't give me the crap that the team has to give us a reason to cheer. Why is that a rule? Why not be proactive instead of reactive? Now that would make for a unique and wonderful atmosphere! The energy from the crowd would get the team going harder. Isn't that is what it is all about? Man I wish I was important enough to find a way to get this crowd fired up more often!

Now the crowd has had moments. But not as many as they used to imho. Right now I say we are pretty average as fans. I don't like being average!

              • Also I understand the lack of energy in blowouts. Why waste energy when the game is out of hand? I can back off on that. But these haven't been blowouts. Those are the games to really bring it. From tip to final horn. Or at least consistent energy.

                • Good win against a scrappy team minus two of its best players. Could be a very tough win on the road in mid Feb.

Our defense was tough but we are struggling on the offensive side. FVV and TC always seem to have the knack for coming through near the end of the game, but went long periods never taking a shot.

                  • -it was a close game but I thought we played well in all aspects of the game. Except the second half rebounding. I'm not really sure what happened with that.
-Wamukota was the first guy off the bench and gave some nice minutes. He had some really nice moments fighting for loose balls and rebounds and his defense was improved.
                    -Evan Wessell
-Rashard Kelly has played more like a freshmen the last couple of games. Hope he turns it around but he may be Shockernets next target to leave the team. You must play up to our standards every game or you will be subject to removal from the team.
-Love seeing Ron drive the ball more. He's got such a complete game.
-was this our best defensive game in a while?
-My goodness, Tekele. He went full on Monstars for that dunk.
-Darius on the block is dangerous. I like that we fed him more and I like that if he didn't have a great look he would kick out and repost. When he's patient and goes up strong he's tough to stop.
-people continue to want to point out the flaws of this team. Have at it. I'm enjoying seeing the improvements, however small, each game. It seems like they're slowly but surely gaining their own identity as a team. So much of the talk this year has been comparing the two squads and wishing we had X player back. Meanwhile the guys actually on the team this year, who are pretty good themselves, are slowly finding their roles and ways to contribute. If we want depth were going to have to let some young guys play which means it isn't always going to be pretty but the pieces are there it just depends on when they put it all together.

                    • Baker's block makes #2 on SCTop10. Cotton's dunk makes #4. Before cotton's dunk they mentioned how Stuart Scott always loved doing Wichita State highlights.

                      • Rebounding still a BIG Issue. FVV led the team with six. BTW, I thought Fred was a lot
more energized last night. I'd like to see GM spread the post minutes around each game
early as he did last year to see each night who wants to play hard and who doesn't. Last
night it was SM and WB but RN never got a chance. I suspect those that shine in practice
rebounding and defending will see the court first and I agree with that. Will be interesting
in the future to see who earns the PT as things seem to be changing from game to game.

                          • Since the crowd level was brought up, I DID think on TV, it sounded pretty quiet for long stretches, but got much better as the game went on...

                              • I guess I will take a bit of a stand for 'the crowd'. Not sure if you noticed, but when ISU cut it to 2 in the 2nd half, the crowd needed no prodding to get up and say enough is enough, lets go boys! As for a sustained roar....not gonna happen with this teams style. They play incredibly slow. I'm sorry but I'm not going to stand up and go crazy for 30sec of watching Ron and Fred pass the ball back and forth 35ft from the basket. And as was stated earlier, every time the crowd got up....ISU made a play. Are we as a fan base a little spoiled now? Yes. Am I at fault, yes. But you can't expect a rocking crowd every night unless the team is playing a style that provides that opportunity. Everyone wants to say "quit comparing this team to last year", well quit living at the FSU NIT game. That was a special, special day. 20 years of pent up frustration.....and no empty corporate seats.
