Let me be clear on this, THERE IS NO WAY THE BIG 12 IMPLODES. Absolutely, no way. Why? Because they have the secret answer in their hip pocket . . .
If things start to get really bad for the Big 12, the Missouri State Bears are available to join their conference. In fact, I would not be surprised if the envelope is already on the AD's desk, but he just hasn't found the letter opener yet.
Can we go ahead and close this thread now? Duh . . .
Importantly for Wichita State and its basketball team the Shockers are not members of this group. Consequently I hope and pray that ADES is executing a strategic plan designed to solidify the Shocker basketball team's survivability as a relevant Top Ten basketball program.

Now you stick to that, and everything else is cream cheese.

Also, I think it had just been announced to the team that Stoops and Venebles were leaving which I think added to the lack of motivation for the game.78-65

I've never heard of any new bowl rules referred to as a the K-State rule. Outside of Kansas, I bet few have. In contrast, just about everyone is familiar with the Notre Dame rule. There are three rules that I live by: never get less than twelve hours sleep; never play cards with a guy who has the same first name as a city; and never get involved with a woman with a tattoo of a dagger on her body. Not getting a bowl game in an age where bowl games were handed out by old guys in bad ties and sport coats, isn't getting the shaft. In those days, the at large invites were as much a product of what fans will show up and spend money in the city, as much as they were about the best team. Traditional winners generally had bigger bandwagons and therefore got more prestigious invites. My guess is this so called screw job happened close to K-State's emergence as a quality team. If that's the case, you can't blame the bowl officials for hedging against a relative unknown, with a small stadium in a tiny city.
