It's taken a while for me to gain the confidence to share this publicly, but I think I was the reason for the Utah loss. I had work very early the next morning, and I couldn't stay up to watch it. I've watched WSU lose in person in the last three years, but I haven't watched them lose on TV in that time. I don't want any of the statistical experts on here to get mad at me for mixing up correlation and causation, there have in fact been a couple of games in the last few years that I did not watch in person or on TV and WSU still won. With that said, every game they've lost was a game that I would have watched on TV and I missed or I was in person for the game. What we've got is one of the all squares are rectangles not all rectangles are squares type situations.

All of this is to say: I'll be watching on TV tomorrow night. I don't expect my streak to end.

I said in that Utah Prediction thread if we keep them under 60, we win.

I truly think that 60 is the number to keep a team below and we guarantee ourselves a win. Caveat being a game like Detroit where it was just a boat race on both ends.

Season long ban from ShockerNet if you miss another TV game. Thanks JD.

That's a bit higher than I was expecting but I guess that's what happens when you are undefeated ATS to start the season.

In my opinion, Morris is okay for the MVC, but he is too short for Post season play, 7 footers would eat him alive. I like Nurger, moves good, duel scoring threat, and seems to be a quick learner. Bush is a project, and greatly needs to improve his offense. Carter needs to be at the 4 for post season play.

Defensively, I think Shaq reaches too much, and leans in too frequently. Needs more vertical defense, and to use his body as barricade to the post. That and lateral footspeed. I don't think his height is an issue.

Carter needs to stop trying to go for blocks when it's obvious that the opponent is in position and going to score. Just stupid fouls when gets beat, or when the offense has a guy cutting to the basket and Carter is late to the rim.

Nurger, to me, has the best potential for filling the hole of needing another post player. His knock is size, but the kid is a true freshman, it'll come with time. If Nurger can start getting that 3 to fall, that will really open up our offense a ton and allow our guards to get more dribble drive opportunities.

And I do like Carter and Kelly playing together some which means that Darius plays the 5. Those four players in my opinion should get the minutes. We are better at the full court trap when Carter is at the 4.
Agree. Yeah and you're are right in that Carters' fouls aren't necessarily due to lack of height at the 5 (it's his feet)...it just seems his natural position and comfort level is at the power forward spot and I feel he would be getting less ticky-tact fouls playing his natural position. Here's to hoping Shaq and Nurger (even Bush) turn into that 3-headed monster!!!!

I agree on height not being an issue; he needs to learn to use his large butt.

Our leading rebounder for the season, as of today, is Evan Wessel. Second leading rebounder is Rashard Kelly.

That is fantastic work by both of those young men. I hope it makes Darius Carter mad as hell though.

Kelly is oft forgotten. I'd really like to see him be a big contributor come Arch Madness.

It took me about 2 minutes to find the toughest defense they had played this year. Quite a tussle indeed.

From where I sit his foul troubles aren't caused by a lack of height. I also don't recall a team killing us by posting up and shooting over him.

Bottom line he needs to play better no matter what position.
His two fouls in the 1st half were the 4 result of a moving screen 30 feet from the basket and a charging foul over a smaller player. Mike though both calls were bad. I questioned the moving screen call but thought the charging call was close but not a terrible call. I know he picked up a least one foul against Utah on a hedge at the top of the key. I suppose you would have to go back and chart all of his fouls but I tend to agree his fouls haven't been primarily the result of being over-matched.

You can tell he thinks every board is his, and he has terrific timing on his ups for a freshman. I have a feeling he is going to be our best rebounder in decades by the time he graduates.

Not saying he's gonna be X, but he has a great chance to be our best rebounder since X.
