  • Even if Utah wins and jumps us in poll, the fact that KU would get another loss probably drops them behind us, so it probably is a wash in that regard.

Also, the game is at Sprint, not AFH. For some weird reason, the Jayhawks don't always play so well in the KC game.

    • This is a point of discussion? Let me guess, JH4P says we should root for KU based on some kind of oddball metric........

As far as I'm concerned, Utah can win every game until they meet us again in the Ncaa Tournament, preferably in the finals.

And I smile a little smile every time Ku loses no matter who, what, when, where, why or how.

Why any other viewpoint is taken, unless you're a KU fan befuddles me, but I suppose it takes all kinds.

      • I'd take the RPI implications of Utah beating KU, which would in turn help our RPI, than the poll implications of possibly getting jumped in the polls by Utah.

I'm more than happy to get bumped down in the polls with a Utah win. Polls are pretty meaningless as long as we stay top 15. The RPI is one of the deciding factors in seeding, and that's what really matters to us.

This, plus, winning matters. I would hope that most fans here would accept that Utah probably SHOULD be ranked ahead of us. They have a true road win, as good a loss as we do, and they beat us.

            • No need to bash JH4P. Was just having a little fun based on a previous discussion. I think everyone knows the correct rooting interest for that game.

              • Well for what's it worth....the reason I asked "Why"...and trust me I do know and realize where everyone is coming from...BUT....I wouldn't let yourselves get nervous simply because the Utah vs. ku game is COMPLETELY different from our game against Utah. Now...of course beakers won't agree with that because it's impossible for them to use facts and logic...but this particular game is perfectly fit and very comfortable for them. Why? Because it's a HOME game. Because it's not at MIDNIGHT. Because it's NOT at 5,000 feet. Utah is a very good team no doubt....but we had the BALLZ to go to Salt Lake and play them on their home court, at midnight and at 5,000 feet. Yes ku will beat Utah by more than 10 and probably closer to 20. YES ku folks will look at us and say..."See...we killed them...and you guys suck!" That's just how it is. ku is well "shielded" in that they don't play tough teams on the opponents home court. They are lucky (privileged) to play hard teams either in Larryville or on a neutral court. Completely different scenario for them than was us. Don't be nervous...and definitely don't give a rat's ass!!!

I agree, the game being played in KC gives Utah a much better chance than if the game were played at AFH. Kansas has lost a couple of these "semi-home" games at Sprint Center to teams like UMass and Davidson in the past several years.

                    What the...?!?!?!

KU WILL win by 10 and probably 20?!?!?! That is within the realm of possibilities, but not likely. The spread is only going to have KU around a 5 point favorite.

Don't give a rat's ass about this game?!?!?! This game affects WSU greatly (both this season and towards the general "WSU vs KU" longterm image). Dang right I care about this game.

                    Seriously... where's the dislike button?

Pretty much this. I know I said it was to preemptively shut up the KWho fans, but that argument could be disarmed by the fact that we at least had the balls to go play on their court. The RPI implications are the really important thing.

It's just one thing I find fun about non-con games. We get to be fans of theirs for the rest of the season, afterward. :)

                        • ku and it's fans and alumni KNOW they want to BURY Utah for the very reasons mentioned. They KNOW they can compare our program to theirs with this game and they wanna make sure they play lights out and win BIG!!! btw...I didn't realize this game was not at Allen Field House...but obviously KC doesn't make it an away game for ku. Go UTES!!!! My REVERSE psychology hardly ever works...but for now...I'm still going to say ku will win between 10 and 20 points.

The Shocks lost by one point in overtime ON THE ROAD at Utah. KU plays them AT HOME. Even if it is close, losing at home is MUCH worse than losing on the road. Utah just needs to win.
