Interestingly enough, the coach of Laverne is Leonard Squigman.
Where oh where is our T. Boone Pickens.

Marge: The plant called and said that if you don't come in tomorrow, don't bother coming in Monday.
      Homer: WOOHOO! Four day weekend.

      • Just noticed, KSU got 5, I repeat, 5 points from their starters today.

        Oh, and 12 turnovers.

Looking at K state stats today I'm thinking we could use Gipson right now.

              This.

I live 3/4 mile from State Line Rd. in KC. There's scarcely a denser Jayhawk neighborhood than mine--the media market here is Ground Zero for the KU fan base. Can't tell you how many times fans here have been SURE they'll roll the ball out and boat race teams unworthy of them, only to lose to Bucknell, Bradley, UNI, VCU, Stanford, etc.

What bothers me is that I hear the same sense of entitlement on this board for the Shockers as I do for KU here. For many here, the consensus seems to be that the Valley is beneath us, that 18-0 is likely,16-2 at the worst, and why should the bottom-feeder teams show up and drag down our SOS anyway? Sounds a Lot like Hawks fans in March.

With regard to the conference, this year's team has proven practically NOTHING, except that you better bring it every game or be ready for a real RPI stinker. We are not ceded the title based on our jerseys. We'll have to scratch and claw and elbow our way to it. If we take tonight's game to Cedar Falls, UNI will kick our ass.

Ever since the Detroit game, this year has felt oddly like the 2007 season to me, like you're riding a bike on a tightrope in a dream and watching the front wheel come off. For NCAA seeding purposes, a loss to Drake or SIU, etc is just that. There's noone I'd rather have around to keep the wheels on than Marshall (and Fred and Ron and Tekele) but I'm not assuming any game is a win before we take it

I'm sure not getting my jollies based on the losses of other teams. KU's crazy conference streak may come to an end this year, but that means nothing to us on a game to game basis. K-State is off to a rough year, but that doesn't mean Weber and Lowrey can't coach, or haven't dominated a much tougher Valley in the past

I'll take my satisfaction in how my team performs, not how other programs lose, and give each opponent the respect they deserve. They get scholarships too.

Dominance is a state of mind.

Everyone can do what they want, and I agree that we shouldn't disparage our Valley teams (although there is some serious venom spewed on the ISUR board about Marshall and Wichita State) because we all help and hurt each other. However, I don't agree about schools like the Sweater Vests, Chicken hawks, etc. who think they are too good to play us, and run us down at every turn. I get a little satisfaction when they lose. The Sweater Vests are coming down off of their pedestal a little this year.

                Just my 2 cents.

This. They are filled with so much envy and hatred for us that it is almost to the point of being bizarre and irrational. Even during the non-conference portion of our schedule they hope for our demise.

                          • It's a definite possibility that Oregon football will outscore both teams.

                            • Don't spend a lot of time worrying about it. UNI will lose this game. Why? Because we need them to win it. Just prepare yourself ahead of time. The MVC will quickly equalize itself and force us to win every game to stay respected nationally. Set your bar where you know it belongs and then just hope for better. It hurts less :)

That seems to fit right in with the status quo in the opening round of Valley games. In yesterday's 4 games the average score per team was 58 points with an average winning margin of 7 points. Perhaps part of the that was attributable to 3 of yesterday's wins being by the road team. Sometimes it is hard to look good on the road, even against a lesser opponent.
