While I am concerned about out youth, I think there is more talent and potential in our front line than we have seen in many a year. Who better to lead these young men to maturity than Gregg, Fred, Ron and Tekele.Where oh where is our T. Boone Pickens.

If we had anybody other than HCGM as the man leading our squad then I would be scared of this game. But I know coach will have us ready. I actually like a game like this right before we play Memphis.Follow me on twitter: https://twitter.com/Shox_KCfan

Hello, as you can tell by my forum name, I'm an Aggie fan. I''ve been so since the early 70's. So, I'm very familiar with Wichita State and our history.
Just a little info about my Aggies... First of all, NMSU has a very good guard tandem in 6' 2" Daniel Mullings and 6' 2" DK Eldridge. Mullings is currently on pace to breaking NMSU's career scoring (currently @ 1,405) and steals (currently @ 202) records. He is not a great perimeter shooter but he is ultra athletic, has great body control around the rim, and is difficult to stop from getting into the paint. He is also a very good defender. So, he wouldn't be a player Shocker fans should sleep on. Eldridge is very similar to Mullings athletically but he is a better perimeter shooter. He is not quite as aggressive as Mullings but he is usually slated to guard our opponents best scoring guard. Both Aggie guards were double figure scorers a year ago. Chili Nephawe is our 6' 10" 268-lbs beast in the middle. Last year, he played power forward next to 7' 5" 360-lbs. Sim Bhullar. Currently, Chili is a little hobbled by a foot injury. So, I am a little concerned with his effectiveness against your bigs. Our final senior starter is Remi Barry. I think he is a much better player than his stats would indicate. He is kind of our X-factor. Last season, just about the time he was starting to live up to his potential, he had a season ending knee injury. He has lost a little of his hops but he is still very smooth around the basket.
Now, the area of MAJOR concern for me is at point guard. VanVleet is special. Currently, we are rotating between two sophomores at point guard. Neither really has a D1 start under there belt. So, if Wichita State is going to put a hurt on NMSU, it will start at the point guard position. Now, both our sophomores are talented but I just feel their best days are still ahead of the them; and VanVleet might be too much for them to handle. I guess we will see.
I think from a winning culture aspect, Wichita State knows how to win in front of the bright lights now; something NMSU is still learning how to do. So, although Wichita State has some young players on there roster, I feel the confidence of your veterans will trickle down the shocker bench. The SDSU game, in the NCAA Tournament last season, was almost NMSU coming out party. Our Aggies are now very close to upsetting some people. If NMSU continues on their pace, the will be a very good team come March. Especially, once all our bigs heal up. Our 7' 3", younger brother of Sim Bhullar, Tanveer Bhullar will miss this game with a ankle sprain. As well as, our 4-star recruit (in Rivals and Scout), Anthony January. He will also miss this game because of an ankle problem. Our 6' 11" back up center Johnathon Wilkins will probably be limited in his minutes as his hand fully heals.
As an Aggie fan, I believe it is not beyond the realm of possibility for NMSU to win the game. But all things being equal, I expect the Shockers to win. Two once in a lifetime guards and a raucous Shocker crowd might be too much too soon for my Aggies.Last edited by NMSUPistolPete; November 12, 2014, 02:55 AM.
