For all the other notable things about the newcomers we keep addressing, it's also important to address the fact that our guard play is ready to rock n roll.

Oh, and all of the rest of the turnovers came from Darius (2), JRS (2), Brown (1) and Shaq (1). I find an awful lot of comfort in knowing that Wamukota, Nurger, R Kelly, Evan and Tevin had ZERO all game. Having a bunch of forwards who can take care of the ball on a team with guards who have PHD's in taking care of the ball means this team isn't going to beat itself. I have no doubt about Darius even though he had a couple.

Here is some perspective on that. Last year against Oklahoma Baptist, our forwards had 7 out of 8 total turnovers for the team. Early (2), Kadeem (2), Chadrack (1), Shaq (1) and Wiggins (1). This year, our forwards had 3 of the 10 total turnovers for the team, and almost all of them came from the one guy who we have full confidence in going forward.

If Nurger had hops, Fred wouldn't have had a TO.

This is what I was kind of getting at. I completely understand that it's not time to predict a title when you've just beaten and NAIA-II team. On the other hand, something like turnovers is a good thing to look for in a game like that. It's something that can be a problem even if the other team isn't on your level. It reflects the little things like looking before you pass, having good hands, and anticipating the ball. Ron Baker can throw a pass to EO and EO can fumble the ball out of bounds without another team being on the court. I think that comparing two NAIA schools (Oklahoma Baptist, albeit NAIA-I, with Northwood, NAIA-II) at least provides a somewhat decent comparison. The fact that our forwards took better care of the ball in this game than in that game does say a little bit. I also think the score says a little bit as well.

If Nurger had hops like that he would win the Olympic high jump every 4 years, and go NBA next year. That ball was 15 ft in the air, and Fred knew it and apologized for it.

That's right! I forgot it was that failed alley-oop play that gave him his 1 turnover. He is used to throwing lobs to Early, I guess. He could very well have been 7:0...gotta love FVV.

          • From my view Michael Jordan on a trampoline would have had trouble catching that oop.

            • So what we're saying.. is that it was more of an alley oops?

              I'll see myself out...

              • WSU had a 2.5:1 A:TO ratio as a TEAM! That's good for a PG for crying out loud!

That's on repeat until next Friday tipoff. But, damn we looked good.
