This really has nothing to do with Shocker Madness, but just sticking this here because I find it interesting. Tweet from LSU associate coach:
@EricPMusselman: A Stanford study found that getting 10 hrs of sleep a night reduced fatigue, injury risk & improved FT accuracy (by 9 %) and from 3 (9.2 %).

The event itself is pretty weak. It was downright embarrassing how nobody counted Wessel's 3's in the 3 point contest. And then after about a minute of cluelessness, they just throw out a number and move him on. lol. This program has so much potential and yet year after year, I feel there's things lacking in the athletic department that are still Evansville-ish.
I will also echo what others have said regarding the athletic department vs Marshall. If Marshall doesn't want anything more than this, the athletic department doesn't have much it can do. If Marshall is not the roadblock that many on here think he is, then the athletic department has no excuse. I'd be curious to know exactly where on this spectrum Marshall sits.

The thing I think is that if HCGM wants to keep the basketball part low key, that is OK, let's just make the rest of it a fun family event. Like I posted earlier, have it on a Saturday with other things happening all over campus, maybe even start it with a VB game the night before if the schedule fits. Then start the basketball stuff at CKA around 6, starting with the women's team. Maybe have a fan three point contest, or a fan dunk contest (on 6 or 7 foot goals) after the women's scrimmage and before the men's. I think most fans of any age would relish the chance to be out on the floor for a few moments of glory (or fun embarrassment). It could really be a fun event for the average fan if the willingness were there.Be who you are and say what you feel, because those who mind don't matter, and those who matter don't mind. ~Dr. Seuss

I'll sit through the embarrassment of the 90's, if it ever happens again, but when we are talking about an event outside of real games that actually count, the product better be good or I'm not showing up.

Maybe I'd feel different if going (or not going) was an option. But I'll probably always continue to watch Shocker Madness on Shocker Vision no matter how poor of production it is. I always want to see the new players.Last edited by tropicalshox; October 21, 2014, 12:42 PM.In the fast lane

The Kansas Coliseum year was the best... They removed all pomp and circumstance. No lame skits, failed dunks, or boring three point contests. Instead there was a brief introduction and a serious 40 minute scrimmage run similar to a real basketball game. I assume it was done this way since the game management staff needed practice running things in a new location.
A "real game" provides the fans what we really want and avoids leaving a bad taste in your mouth due to those embarrassing moments that happen all too often with the current shocker madness event.
