Can the player sell it to a jewelry store unaffiliated with UK? I assume the player can't sell it to a UK fan, right-since that would involve boosters paying players? I dunno. I'm not smart enough for this. Is there just a common sense standard that we will give out a ring for being undefeated but not for losing in the first round of the NIT?

It's not like they don't know the event occurs every year around this time prior to the start of the season. No one needs to let them know it's coming up in a few days or weeks. If they were actually interested in going, they would find the information on their own and not have to have it spoon fed to them.

It's always tough to make evaluations based on inter-squad scrimmages. Everybody knows the plays, everybody knows the defense and they've been playing against each other all summer long. Think about this as well, these newbies are playing against All-Conference, All-American, future NBA studs. It will take awhile.
Here is my evaluation to go along with the other 200 already given.
Nurger is a player. He is primo clay for Gregg's hands. He'll contribute this year.
Kelly looks like Cotton in a forwards body. Likes contact, chases the bounds. He'll contribute this year.
Holland will get decent situation minutes. Remember who he is playing behind.
Henderson will certainly get an opportunity to back up Fred.
Brown??? Didn't see enough to form an opinion. I did expect more. Same as Holland?
The rest, to be determined. Disappointed we didn't get to see SM and TBW. SM better understand that you don't want to go toe-to-toe with HCGM. You WILL lose.
As far as the event. It is what Gregg wants it to be. I really doubt he wants a three-ring circus. This is a blue collar program. We are not rolling out 5 Star clowns under a big top. I also doubt that he had any problem with the fan support. He knows he has a premier fan base.
Let's see how opinions change after the first exhibition game and outside competition.Last edited by wusphlash; October 17, 2014, 04:41 PM.Where oh where is our T. Boone Pickens.

Do you have a link to images or videos of the recruiting room? I read that they were going to do this, but have not seen the results myself.

Obviously HCGM is not interested in making it a bigger event. I wish it were on a Saturday as a part of a BIG campus wide "Shocktoberfest" type of event. Make it a day where all the facets of Wichita State are on display for the public. It would be cool to go check out some stuff in the wind tunnels, see some art work, check out the happenings in the business school, hear some music, eat at the new Rhatigan Center, and check out some Shocker sports, headlined by the men's basketball team. Make it a day for everything that is Black and Gold!Be who you are and say what you feel, because those who mind don't matter, and those who matter don't mind. ~Dr. Seuss

Hey, there's a box score on goshockers.
Interestingly enough, Rauno almost led all players in scoring without Darius's 75% shooting effort (one was a joke 3, so I'm calling him 6 for 8 and 12 points in 20 minutes). FVV also had 8 points, but 4 were from the free throw line. Rauno was 3 for 4, 2 of 2 from three for 8 points in 15 minutes and led all players in rebounds and had a block. He was the ONLY player on his squad to even hit a 3...Black squad was 2 of 8. He out shot Cotton and FVV from 3. ZERO turnovers. The thing that stands out negatively is that he also led the team in fouls.
The box score helps put into perspective how good he was. His squad was pretty poor offensively and would have gotten destroyed without him on it.Last edited by Dave Stalwart; October 17, 2014, 01:32 PM.

The box score has Holland as 0-1 from three, but did he not make a buzzer beating three from about where Marshall was sitting?"I not sure that I've ever been around a more competitive player or young man than Fred VanVleet. I like to win more than 99.9% of the people in this world, but he may top me." -- Gregg Marshall 12/23/13 :peaceful:

"We have to pass it, to find out what's in it".
A physician called into a radio show and said:
"That's the definition of a stool sample."
