Exactly, if ISUr had more talent, then the glaring difference is coaching abilities. What a bunch of turds. Return games to both of them need to be bruising bloody affairs.

Could be simple coach speak; of course the exact quote may have been taken out of context. Anyway, try to say nice things about the team that just beat you into oblivion and then hope they overlook you during the return game. I’m assuming the reporter asked for an ‘off the cuff’ comparison of ISUr and WSU. Regardless, I would have this quote pasted to each player’s locker; this team needs a ‘chip’ and this might serve the purpose. I’m guessing deep down Marshall loves it!

Wow, Ray Giacoletti isn't really helping Dan Muller with that comment. If ISU really is more talented, Dan should answer why he's never beaten Marshall... superior players, inferior coaching?

Not exactly helping his own team, either, considering that they still have to come to Wichita and might even have a third meeting in St. Louis, depending on how things go for Drake in the play-in round.

Giacoletti didn't exactly just fall off the turnip truck, so his comment is quite a head scratcher. It clearly isn't serious analysis, because he hasn't even seen enough players to judge 1-12, at least live. Maybe he secretly dislikes Dan Muller and wants to paint a target on the Redbirds for when WSU goes to their place?

What he may have been saying, and if so not very artfully, is that he thinks the IlSt roster contains more talent overall than WSU's does. If so, most observers would probably disagree with him, considering (for example) that no Birds were among ESPN's or any other rankers' top handful of players in the country, which makes it hard to imagine who he would call better than FVV or Baker. And it's hard to picture any Redbird being deemed a better all-around player than Cotton, either. That's a pretty big handicap to make up from #4 on down. Also, at last report, you still only get to play five at a time, so how good #9 or #10 are may not be critical in any case.

Regardless, you know it's been duly recorded by Marshall.

As others have mentioned, if that horseshit comment was true, where's all of Illinois State's Valley titles, NCAA Tournaments, Final Fours, undefeated seasons, and more importantly, wins over Wichita State?

Now I can see why Drake sucks so bad. I REALLY hope this gets to the correct group of people before the remaining Drake and Illinois State games.

I wish Teddy would have played here in Wichita. He is undisciplined, likes to shoot the 3 and rarely makes them, and while he is physically talented, he has a BB IQ of a moron. He hinders ISUR more than he helps them.

ISU talent is quite similar to Shaq Morris. If only they had a coach that could get them to perform...note that at Drake Shaq would have been player #13. Players 1-12 did not include the talent that is Shaq. If Shaq were at ISUr he would be a sophomore averaging 10 and 8 for a 9-7 team. It takes a NCOY to develop a disciplined team that wins ALMOST always. Ray took a straight up shot at Dan.

WSU-Kentucky was the 31st most-watched sporting event in the country last year.... excluding the NFL and Olympics. Haha, so kind of random, but cool to see the Shox on this list. Interesting list all together. The NFL is king.

That is actually pretty impressive. The WSU-Kentucky game was seen by more people than some World Series games, some major bowl games, the Masters, the Preakness, some World cup games, some elite 8 and sweet 16 games and even the UConn-Florida Final 4 game.

Wichita State has had three alumni play in the NBA this year (Gal, Toure and Cle). The last time three former Shockers (I am not counting Dreiling since he did not finish as a Shocker) played in the league in the same season was 1994-95 (X, Cliff, Antoine).

I could be wrong, but I do not believe 4 Shockers have ever played in the NBA in the same season before (unless you count Ozell Jones, Gaylon Nickerson, or Dreiling, which I am not since they all transferred voluntarily).
