No. We would need a marquee matchup at home for Gameday to come here. They aren't coming for St. Louis, Alabama, etc. This type of thing is reserved for big time out of conference matchups, or intriguing conference games, neither of which we will have.

          Unfortunately, this nails it.

Next year's IBA game against Utah has a chance. Not a great one, but a chance.

Okay what do we know about the event.

            1. There are typically only 7 or 8 weekends that ESPN College GameDay is broadcast on each season.
            2. Dates are usually between the middle of January and the 2nd weekend of March.
            3. The MVC has held the event once in its existence. Trivia: Who were the two MVC teams involved in the event?
            4. Pre-season rankings and prior years records mean a lot.
            5. Usually, but not always, but one non-BCS team(s) host the event each year.
            6. Last year, the Games were announced on August 14, 2013.

The best option was Wichita State vs Memphis, only if it were later in the non-con season. I'm going to agree with the other posters that this year seems pretty far fetched, we just don't have the right match ups to garner their attention.

On top of having a great match up that ESPN would want to televise in their truly most primetime college hoops spot, you also have to play the game of having the best match up available for that date. You could have WSU vs (insert great team) and if they're playing the same weekend as Kentucky vs Florida, good luck.

This kind of thing is one of many reasons why it's such a shame that WSU, VCU and Gonzaga don't play each other every year. ESPN would be all over it.

                    Nope.

Unless we play Duke, North Carolina, Kentucky, Louisville, one of the Michigan Big-10 teams or cough, puke gag kansas.

Okay, let's say ESPN GameDay says they have January 31st, 2015 open right now and would like to offer it Wichita State. However, they are only willing to do so if we play one of the four teams: Tulsa, Seton Hall, Saint Louis, or Alabama who we are currently scheduled to play this season. By happenstance, all four of those teams are open for that Saturday. What would you be willing to offer one of those teams to change the current date with them, to change to the new date?

If ESPN wants to have College Game Day in Wichita, it will be in Wichita. ESPN would work with the Valley to get the best possible Valley opponent, but the focus would be on Wichita State and the best college basketball atmosphere in the country, so the opponent will just be a side note.

Again, if ESPN wants it, it will happen. If they don't, it won't happen. Personally, I think that showing off something different would be refreshing rather than showing the annual Tobacco Road match-up, Phog, Rupp, or tired subjects like that for the tenth time.

Yeah but by changing it up with different teams....the nations sheep wouldn't know what to do with themselves.

Are you trying to tell me that Loyola of Chitown v your WSU Shox is not a national magnet of interest?

                            Not buying it.

It's not. But just wait 20 years and Loyola will be a force to be reckoned with. Just ask Elgin..... :/
