so assuming he offer him for next year, that takes away 1 scholarship for the 15 class, with 1 remaining. But we all know we will have more than 2 new players for 2015 class.

In other words, is the offer still an obligation the school is automatically locked into?
Just curious. Certainly nothing against Eric.
There are several ways it would no longer be binding on Eric. If Eric did was denied admission due to academic standards or he does not meet the eligibility requirements then his NLI would be null and void. I really don't know if that is the case with Eric or not. The fact that Sully's reports said he plans to sign with WSU again in November would seem to indicate that Eric's NLI is, in fact, no longer in effect and not binding on either party. Whether his NLI became null and void due to eligibility/admission requirements or whether it might have to do with the rules regarding attending a Prep school I don't know.
At his point I am operating under the assumption their is no binding agreement between the parties until he signs again in November. If there was there would be no reason to sign again in November.

My understanding is that the NLI expires automatically at the end of one year. At that point, neither WSU nor Eric have any obligation one to the other. However, Eric can sign a new NLI at that time (assuming WSU offers it) and then WSU is bound to honor that. I believe that Eric would also have to honor that unless he failed to qualify or experienced some extreme hardship."I not sure that I've ever been around a more competitive player or young man than Fred VanVleet. I like to win more than 99.9% of the people in this world, but he may top me." -- Gregg Marshall 12/23/13 :peaceful:

Remember when Nancy Pelosi said about Obamacare:
"We have to pass it, to find out what's in it".
A physician called into a radio show and said:
"That's the definition of a stool sample."

I just now read Sully's article. There's a line in there that's worth mentioning:
Hamilton sees the wisdom in a year of prep school to learn the skills required to play small forward. The future's so bright - I gotta wear shades.
We like to cut down nets and get sized for championship rings.

Hamilton says his conditioning coach measured him at a true 6'9". It appears Marshall is trying to groom a 6'9" SF. Probably what he would have done with Early if he would have had Early for 4 years.

This news is finally out, so I can share a small tidbit that I have been getting updates on for weeks now. My source is A+ with this information: The original plan was to place Hamilton at Sunrise weeks ago when we signed the Sunrise center. However, Hamilton has played extremely well this summer in practices with the players. He played so well in fact, that what to do with him became a difficult decision for Marshall. Do you keep him on the team and let another player go? If so, who? Or do you send him to Sunrise to improve and pray some really good team does not recruit him away a year from now? Neither decision was an easy one to make. Marshall went with option 2 as we all know now, but the decision was a difficult one for him. Hamilton appears to have a very bright future in basketball and lets hope we can hang onto him a year from now.
