I was suppose to meet my boss at work after the game (we were on a very special and lengthy assignment that had a looming deadline so I was working that weekend). The game went extra long and I was afraid my boss might be angry because I was so late, and frankly I just didn't, like you, want to see another last second loss. I left the arena and was walking to the parking lot (at that time I was parking in the lot south of the football stadium -- now a student dorm) and heard what I can only describe as one of the loudest noises I have ever heard. As I turned my head back to CKA I could have sworn I saw the roof raise and then settle back down. Needless to say, I missed Matty B's shot and didn't even know we had won until I got back to the car and turned the radio on. I have NEVER left early from a game since.
I'm not gonna lie. Getting to hear the loudest CKA has been or ever will be again from outside the arena on campus is something I think I would actually like to hear.

It really is too bad that the only way to experience that includes missing something going on inside that I would hate to miss.

Your memory is an odd commodity to me. Now what am I gonna do with myself?

I've been hesitating to post this because it really is embarrassing for several reasons.

Well, the thread is beckoning me.

Okay fine. I was in the student section for the 08-09 massive 2nd half comeback in St. Louis, finished off by Murry's go ahead three from the corner, followed by CU not answering in the 10ish following seconds. SHOCKS WIN!!!! ...I rushed the court and hugged a player (the one that left for Oklahoma baptist). I was younger then, and honestly it was a really fun game and I lost control a little bit.

Then, there was this weird stoppage and 1.9 seconds got put back on the clock.

That's awesome because I think we only had one row of students there for that game... the way the team played the first half, I'm sure the fans were wondering why they even showed up. But the way the team played the last 15 minutes was amazing and a sign of the heart and fire Marshall's teams would show in the future. If it's any consolation, the best part is that it was one of Creighton's best seasons ever and they still didn't make the NCAA Tournament.. not that it matters because it's not like they would've made the second weekend.

I hope you suffer in the belly of Sarlacc until we return to the Final Four for making me relive this moment.
Thank you Doc for your sacrifice, cause you know that if you had stayed WSU would of lost.

Good point, lemuel -- I was thinking that the basketball gods had punished doc for despairing and leaving early (I've known others who met the same fate at different sporting events, also for leaving prematurely). But your insight casts him in a whole new light: long live St. Doc, patron of the Shockers!

I was a student in 1992 when we last played KU in Wichita. We harassed the KU bench so much they wanted to fight us. Richard Scott in particular got a little mouthy. I admit, we were over the line and I think our little group may have caused KU to pull the plug on the series. It was worse than I'm admitting here but that's about I'll I can say about that.

snuck in beers and smirnoff ice at a shocker basketball game...we ended up losing the game...which led to more drinking...which led to my wife dropping her iPhone in the toilet...which led her to telling me her phone dont work...which led to me plugging it...which led to me frying the phone...rendering it useless...moral of the story...dont drink at a shocker game

I think it's pretty unlikely that your group's annoying behavior affected the decision of St. Roy not to play on the road "at this level," Dan, or the Chickenhawks' desire to get an extra home game -- but is that really something you want to take credit for in any case?

I could be wrong, but did not Coach Williams make the comment after that game that as long as he was the KU coach, he would never return to Wichita?

The epitome of the word "douchebags".

They look like a bunch of moronic bumpkins, which is pretty ironic, considering this is a fanbase that prides itself on wearing sweater vests and sipping back on some martinis.

Their time is coming... and coming fast.

                        Wahhhhhh.

Well at least Roy had an excuse I guess. Same, can't be said by the current coaching staff. Unless you consider being a p*ssy as a solid excuse.

My comment about them cancelling was somewhat tongue in cheek, lighten up. Besides, this is supposed to be a confessional, I did not say I was proud of it. Jeesh.

Way to go @Dan:... I don't know what is worse, the actual infraction by you and your group or the fact that you never confessed to this over beers at our watch parties.

Ok here's my confession: I don't really like ANY of the food from Koch. Except the pretzel with cheese. But other than that it's all just crappy, old school, low quality stadium junk. IBAs food makes Koch Arena look stupid. In fact all stadiums in this day and age make Koch's food selection and quality look stupid. The world has moved to higher quality concessions, but Koch didn't get the memo. I don't have to eat overpriced crap food so there is nothing to _complain_ about. But it's embarassing.

I think that Koch has the same concession menu and same food supplier from 15-20 years ago. It hasn't seemed to change one ounce in that time. Maybe they're going for consistency, which they're knocking out of the park.
