It seems like they took a lot of highly rated recruits who had character issues, because they needed to fill a roster to be competitive quickly.

Turgeon is always looking to jump to "something better". he bitched and moaned about reaching a peak at WSU when he was here so he jumped to A & M and then to Maryland. He has had "better ranked players, in bigger leagues" with A & M and Maryland and has never gotten close to the sweet 16 like he did here.

I think he has a couple years at most left at Maryland to perform or he is either out or jumps to another job.

As an 8 or 9 seed against a 1 each time. He came close to busting out but never did.

I noticed Turfin posted recently and he would have a lot of insight into what has gone on with MT as of late. I do remember a quote from him that alluded to the more seamy side of "big" time athletics and how it made him feel, when I read that I thought that it sounded like a part of him wishes he never left Wichita. I have known lots of people that just couldn't wait to get away from Doo Dah and years later they realize how good a place this really is.

MT would never publicly admit it but I'm certain deep down he is second guessing his career decisions. I'm not completely writing him off at this moment but I think he's close to joining the Exh A list of coaches "where the grass isn't always greener on the bcs side".

Personally, I've always been a fan of his and wished him the best in his career.

He has not had a lot of success at Maryland, and with this latest situation, his job security may very well be swinging in the balance.

HCGM has earned a ton of trust with the fan base so we might wonder what was happening but would embrace his judgment and assume it was a one-time action to root out some problems which crept in. Very different situation unfortunately for Turgeon this occurring three years into his tenure when he has had very little success.

Please elaborate. I hardly follow Maryland (or Turgeon) at all though I am interested in knowing what happens to our former coach. I was mostly giving my thoughts on the reaction to a similar situation with Marshall, which is pretty hard to imagine honestly.

That depends on which guys are getting run off. It seems like some shockernetters want Coach to run off more players than he actually does. See all the speculation about Lufile last year and some grumblings about Wessel this year.
