WSU hotter than Louisville last year? The same Louisville that won 10 straight entering the tourney, and beat WSU, and won the title? Hotter than Louisville? Nope.

Hotter than Michigan last year? Nope.

Hotter than Syracuse last year? Nope.

WSU hotter than Florida this year? The same Florida team that has won 30 in a row including beating Kentucky 3 times, the most recent coming just one week prior to the WSU vs Kentucky game? WSU hotter than Florida? Nope.

I did not call you a troll for disagreeing with me.

        Put away your strawman.

I don't believe your trolling at all. That said, "whenever someone posts an opinion", it is just that....an opinion. It's not a matter of discrediting that opinion, simply offering a different opinion which is the nature of the beast. Sometimes, there is no right or wrong. Sometimes, no one is clearly right. Sometimes, a person may have misspoke. Once in a while, someone's opinion might be misinformed.

What I am getting out of this pissing match is two sides arguing two different questions because neither has defined any parameters of about the point they are making.

One seems to be arguing who was the hottest team in the NCAA tournament and the other who was the hottest team coming into the NCAA Tournament. I think it is obvious the Shocks were one of the hottest teams in the tournament but they weren't that hot coming into the tournament. Both points are pretty accurate.

The one thing I am beginning to dislike about the NCAA Tournament is that it seems like a team is almost exclusively evaluated by how they do in the Tournament with little regard to how they played throughout the season. The regular season is only important to the extent you do enough to make the NCAA Tournament, which is, of course much tougher for Wichita State than it is for the Big 5 schools. But how you are remembered is mostly based on how you perform in the NCAA Tournament. At least that is the impression I get. Maybe that's the way it should be. I don't know. Having done something no other collegiate team has done, starting the season at 35-0 will probably not be soon forgotten. Maybe that fact, in and of itself shows what a special season it was.

1972, I wish we could have interesting debates about who the hottest teams are/were, but wushock27 didn't like it that someone had a differing opinion and tried to stifle the conversation from the start by attacking me instead of just responding to my ideas. This seems to be a common problem on this board.

In the tournament last year nobody was hotter than WSU, as based on expectations going in. Nobody expected it. This year, nobody is hotter than Kentucky, with the potential exception of Connecticut.

                  Swing and a miss.
You miss 100% of the shots you don't take....

.....but, statistically speaking, you miss 99% of the shots you do take.

The problem with this line of thinking is that it's impossible to predict beforehand which teams are hot. Only after certain teams outperform their seed/expectations then the "they peaked at the right time" narrative gets formed. Why are Kentucky and UConn considered hotter than Florida? Michigan State should have been a hot team that was peaking at the right time because they just won their conference tournament and got everyone healthy.

It was a gentle attack relative to much of what I read on message boards, but still an attack none-the-less. Why bring me into it at all? I gave my opinion and you tried to make the issue about me instead of addressing my opinion. Whatever. Forget it. I'm more interested in this topic...

So arguing about sports on a message board frustrates you? Weird.

So if the #1 team in the country is playing really well, by your definition they can't also be "hot" because everyone expects them to win?

Your method of defining the hottest team in the country is rather strange. Louisville won their final 16 games of the season including a win over WSU. I see no way you can rank WSU ahead of them in this conversation.

It is possible to state an opinion without specifically denigrating another poster's previously posted opinion. It just seemd that there is too much "attack mode" especially when somebody or nobody agrees with a certain opinion.

Note Shocktalk, this is clearly not addressed to you, butonly agreeing with what you say and wanting others to relate my comment to what you said.

im4wsu, I would be curious to hear your opinion about where this conversation became "attack mode". Here are the first 4 posts:
