Chris Jans: Bowling Green's New Head Coach

Great news for jans, and Marshall will find a way to fill the gap -- he's good at that, too. Meanwhile, this gets Jans some head coaching experience so that whenever Marshall finally does retire or somehow is presented with a job even better than what he has here (and as well suited to him, which won't be easy), WSU can hire Jans back, give him a big raise to return, and continue the Marshall-Jans regime.

I hope Jans decides it doesn't quite feel right & returns. But I also bet that he's been instrumental in helping to fi d his replacement.
My rooting interest in ex-WSU rooting interests now goes, 1) Jans 2) Boyle 3) Brauer 4) Turgeon.Phi Alpha

Hate to see Chris leave. He brought a lot to the Shox and was HCGM's right hand man. I'm a selfish guy.
This time of year always makes me nervous. You just know the phone is ringin'

As many of you who have met Chris know, he is a hell of a coach, but he is an even better dude. He and his lovely wife are tremendous people, and while I am sad that he will be departing Wichita State, I am happy for his first big opportunity to run his own D-1 program. Like someone else had mentioned, my list of teams I keep tabs on got another addition yesterday.78-65

Kind of surprised none of the sleuths on here weren't keeping a diligent watch on flight tracker.
That is all.

HCGM has been lobbying for someone to give Jans a shot for a couple years now. I have a feeling that the hiring of Steve Forbes was done to ensure we have 2 very strong assistants on the bench if/when Jans got this opportunity. Both Haier and Forbes are great assistants and are relied on heavily for not only recruiting but scouting and game preparation. I assume they will both move up the pecking order and we'll have a great list of candidates to choose for the #3 spot. Good luck to Coach Jans, Bowling Green is in good hands.
