  • Lynch, Mock, and perhaps one or two others will be difficult match ups, no doubt. However, Carter's length and athleticism will be difficult for some as will Kelly's and Hamilton's (assuming they play). Morris and Wamukota will give us the opportunity to run a big body or long reach against the opposition. Personally, I think 5 minutes of body blows from Shaq followed by 5 minutes of blocked shots from B-Wam will be too much for those guys. Rinse, repeat.

      • Carter is a stud and if we get the anticipated improvement out of him that we have most other 2 year players, look out.

I do think if Shaq gets his act together he could be a Hall type player for us, but we have all heard that his conditioning isn't the best and he will only be a redshirt freshmen. Carter is great offensively, but he is 6'7" and physicality isn't really his game. I see us having a hard time handling a player like Mockevicius next year. Coleby and Lufile were definitely not the greatest players, but they both had a little more size (both 6'9" big bodies) and experience than we will have next year. I mean we are looking at a pretty good possibility that we will be seeing 6'5" wessel at the 4 quite a bit next year. Hopefully we do indeed bring in a Juco or transfer(preferably one who can actually play next year) big so help down low.
          No way.

          • Points, rebounds, blocks and TOs are shown "per 40 minutes", not per game.

            Orukpe - 545 minutes / 15.1 mpg / 95 points / 6.97 pp40 / 157 rebounds / 11.52 rp40 / 56 blocks / 4.1 bp40 / 46 TOs / 3.38 TOp40

            Coleby - 465 minutes / 12.9 mpg / 94 points / 8.09 pp40 / 100 rebounds / 8.60 rpg40/ 45 blocks / 3.9 bp40 / 22 TOs / 1.89 TOp40

            Lufile - 599 minutes / 16.6 mpg / 211 points / 14.09 pp40 / 180 rebounds / 12.02 rpg / 29 blocks / 1.9 bp40 / 41 TOs / 2.74 TOp40

From these stats, EO was not clearly better than one or the other in anything. EO was only slightly better than Coleby in blocks (4.1 to 3.9). Lufile was a much better scorer than either EO or Coleby and slightly better rebounder than EO. Coleby is clearly better in not turning the ball over. Not shown, Lufile and EO were the same in assists and steals.

I would say that EO's size may have been more of a deterrent and altered more shots. Nevertheless, there's not a lot of difference between these players.

            • Next Season can be even more understood soon when we see if we bring in another big. Right now, when I focus on positions 1,2, and 3, we will be improved. First of all, we have our 3 point guards returning in FVV (what a difference he made for us), Baker (he's a bad, bad boy/man), and Cotton who defends with the best of them. These 3 will improve so count on it.

Here is the proof of the puddin in terms of improvement at these three slots. Corey Henderson, 6'4" (son of a Coach) can play both the 1-2 slots and it has been said he shoots the rock like C. Hannah? Helllooo!!! We have slot #1 covered and improved.

At the 2 slot, Baker will really treat Shocker fans even more with so many positives. I'm thinking Zach Brown can play at the 2 or 3 and is quite an athlete at 6'-6" and is said to be solid at shooting and playing D. Last summer, I watched him scrimmage twice and really liked him and his game.

The 3 slot intriques me with Cotton leading this spot as a Senior. Wessel also returns as a Junior. R. Kelly can play the 3/4 but I would like to see him at this spot. What a rebounder and high-leaper that will play some solid D. Kelly reminds me of an ideal prototype player in the Marshall Plan.

What we have here at these 3 slots could match up to any team in the Country. We will improve our quality depth, score more at these slots, rebound better, with more high-octane energy. Keep in mind, the' best of he best' teams have solid guards and wings. Once we find out about recruiting here in April, I would like to also discuss the 4-5 spots.
Shocker basketball will forever be my favorite team in all of sports.

I hate the idea as much as you. You saw what happened in the game against uk when he played some time at the 4. 3G has even said he's a backup 4

And you didn't even mention Holland...😀
You miss 100% of the shots you don't take....

.....but, statistically speaking, you miss 99% of the shots you do take.

                  • What is it about WSU BB players (especially at the 4 and 5 positions) that shortly after enrolling they tend to shrink an inch or two?

Must be something in the water.

Go watch last year's final four team on tape. You will notice the our defense looked significantly different with EO in the game - almost no perimeter players turned the corner towards the lane when he was hedging. There is no stat for that, but it eliminated the "go-to" offense for a many college basketball teams.

Not disagreeing, but that is what I meant by him being a deterrent.

I will add the following (not sure what I'm doing wrong and not getting a larger pic, so click for larger view):

                          equwwk.jpg

Please notice who is most prominent in the "Minus groups" even playing with 3 or 4 starters.

One thing was for sure: You don't find Hall with a minus no matter who he was playing with.

Edit: This Plus/Minus was for the five 2013 Dance games.

                              • Yes, and that was a blunder on my part on my above post because Holland can shoot lights out and will be an asset. I am hoping he can and will play both the 1 and 2 slots. If we were to compare positions 1,2, and 3 this Season with other teams, we would have a solid case that we were one of the very best out there. However, if we were to compare next Season's squad at these 3 slots, this 2014-2015 team will be deeper and better than last Season and that is quite a statement.
