Want more justification for 3G being COY,look at returning Top 100 players. WSU - zero - at rank #12. Next lowest are #22 Iowa and #25 Utah with two.
"I not sure that I've ever been around a more competitive player or young man than Fred VanVleet. I like to win more than 99.9% of the people in this world, but he may top me." -- Gregg Marshall 12/23/13 :peaceful:

Remember when Nancy Pelosi said about Obamacare:
"We have to pass it, to find out what's in it".

A physician called into a radio show and said:

That T100 column sure is interesting. We've got an AA, A Naismith finalist, and a projected second-=round NBA draft pick returning, but we're the only team on that list with not a single top 100 recruit on the roster.
The future's so bright - I gotta wear shades.

Here's how his model has predicted us the past few years:

2013-2014: 23rd (added in best/worse case scenarios, which had our best possible ranking at 9)
2012-2013: 127th (8-10 projected record in the MVC)

While I cannot find his 2011-2012 rankings, or any earlier ones, here are other projected rankings I could find:

        2011-2012: 39th (SportingNews)
        2010-2011: 77th (Rivals)

The point is that whatever Marshall is doing is consistently beating the best case scenarios of the pundits. If we are projected 12th this year and we overachieve by as much as we have the last two seasons we will be in fantastic shape.

        • Maryland is interesting. 9 top-100s with 99% of their minutes returning and only at 21st. That should be an Easy-Bake Oven recipe for the top 10.

            • I stated it during a couple in-season threads, but I really believe Darius Carter is going to blow up next year. He's a talented basketball player and is being perfectly groomed in Gregg Marshall's system. For a part-time starter, his production was outstanding. I listened to many games, while only watching ESPN's "gamecast" (basically a running box score) - can't tell you how many times, even when Carter wasn't a starter, after coming into the game for a few minutes, his numbers were right up there with anyone. If he becomes more of a 25-30 minute player, he's going to be one of our go-to guys. The three-headed monster plan worked very well this season, but each year and each team is different. Looking ahead, I anticipate Carter playing a very big role in our continued success.

Carter does have some very good numbers given the minutes played. Taking this year's numbers and bumping them to 30 minutes per game, he would be at 7.4 rebounds per game (2.3 offensive boards) although he was not the rebounder Lufile was, particularly on the offensive boards, at 9 total rebounds and 3.25 offensive boards per 30 minutes. To some, a surprising number might be his TOs, or should I say, a lack of TOs. Nobody touched him. Projected for 30 minutes per game, he's at 0.75 TOs. Cotton was 1.07 per 30 and FVV was 1.26 per 30. Early was 2.13 per 30 minutes.

Two concerns: FT% and PFs. He needs to improve the .641 FT%. Particularly if we end up a little short handed at the 4/5, he will need to lower his fouls. Per 30 minutes, Darius would be at 3.33. Compare that to Early, who occasionally had to sit with foul trouble at 2.52 per 30 minutes.

                • Carl Hall averaged 8.4 ppg, 5 rpg, and 22.3 minutes as a junior.

Carter averaged 7.9 ppg, 4.5 rpg, and 18.2 mpg as a junior.

Hall averaged 12.5 ppg, 6.8 rpg, and 28.2 mpg as a senior.

Carter would project to 12.7 ppg and 7.4 rpg in 30 minutes.

Blocks project similarly with Carter having a slight upper hand.

Carl Hall averaged no NCAA tournament wins as a junior. Carter averaged 1 NCAA tournament win as a junior.

Carl Hall averaged 1 Final Four as a senior. Darius Carter projects to win 1 NCAA national championship as a senior.

                    • Our summer coaches will be very angry after our early NCAA exit.

The newcomers will understand very quickly that we mean business next year. Player coaches Ron Baker, FVV, and Sgt Major Cotton take zero ****. Be prepared and come prepared.

With exception of Tharpe, who gets on the list by virtue of his jersey, Tekele is in good company...

Even diehard KU fans would roll their eyes at his conclusion. Tharpe will enhance KU`s chances for an 11th B12 championship from the end of the bench.
