  • I'm not certain about this, but I think as long as they passed their first semester classes, the one-and-dones don't count against the APR. I'm not even sure if they bother going to their spring classes after enrolling in them.

    • It's actually a combination of all of the above. They just have to leave the school in good standing. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Academic_Progress_Rate

The article points out that leaving your second semester after the NCAA tournament but before you finish classes can harm the APR. But if they finish the second semester, it doesn't harm the school.

      • So the school has everything to gain and absolutely nothing to lose by having so many one-and-dones at a given time. Seems like there should be some sort of limit on those types of athletes on one team at a time. Not sure how you would regulate it but seems a bit unfair.

The key is that they have to leave the university in good academic standing after the spring semester. If guys blow off class once the season is over (which many one-and-done types probably do), the school will take a hit for it.

EDIT: jdshock essentially said the same thing as me.

You would think HCGM would give a recommendation at Marshall.

Why leave UNLV for USF?? Doesn't make much sense.

It looks like they had some good recruits coming in as well.. Weird.

Whoever that guy is, he's drastically overvaluing the UNLV job.

He's the sdsu beat writer for the union Tribune here in San Diego. He is pretty much out of touch with reality, and not just with this. Although, I could see Howland in a way.

                            • Since Shaka seems to be out at Marquette wouldn't that put Howland back in the picture?

UNLV could be a GREAT program, with the right coach.
