Does KU get every single recruit they want? Nope. Until they do, they are going to continue to try to work hard at finding ways to gain the upperhand.

Would KU possibly miss on some recruits if they didn't intentionally schedule visits to certain key locations like Vegas? Possibly so. It is hard to say when these tactics work and when they don't, but it seems logical that they might work sometimes, so why criticize them for trying?

This just seems like whining about KU because they are KU and not for any reason of substance.

What are you talking about shockmonster? WSU's perspective? What does WSU's perspective have to do with the question "should KU even work hard at recruiting or will recruits just show up because they are KU?" I was simply addressing the idea that KU doesn't even need to try to recruit because they can get whoever they want. The question wasn't whether their tactics work, but whether they should even bother to try any tactics at all. If you want to tell me that playing a game in Vegas doesn't help recruiting of guys from Vegas, I'm willing to listen to your argument, but don't tell me KU shouldn't even try because they don't need any help recruiting.

I guess you did just address the question before your post, and I did infer something a little from what you said, but the subject of the thread was about the problem with WSU scheduling and why these teams continue to say that it hurts them to schedule us on a FAIR basis (which last I heard for KU was a IBA, AFH, KC proposal). I believe the statement that Gregg said on his coaches show last night that programs just want us to stay where we belong in the slow lane. I don't care why they schedule at UNLV instead of WSU but they could schedule us without it hurting their program. They schedule K State every year h/h and it doesn't hurt their program. KSU won't schedule us either because it hurts their program. Florida only on a buy basis. Again, they want us in the other lane and staying where we belong.

SDSU, Temple, UNLV, Colorado are inconsistent with that notion. Compared to WSU, games at KC are inconstant too as if WSU played KU in KC, there would be a ton of Shocker fans obviously.

KU could easily play a neutral site game in Las Vegas rather that @UNLV.

ABC, I think you are missing some of the points or confusing two different reasons. SDSU, Temple, and UNLV are games scheduled to help with recruiting. Colorado was scheduled because of Tad Boyle. Like it or not, those are the reasons.

Because of Tad Boyle? I don't remember there being any scheduling WSU "because of Turgeon." And if you are going to hand out home-and-homes because a coach is a former player, I question a lot of what is said about KU's scheduling.

The fact is, KU not scheduling Wichita State has just as much to do with KU trying to keep WSU down in its place, as it does KU only wanting to play blue-bloods. KU has no reason to give WSU a stage to prove its worth in-state. So they don't. Can't say I blame them, can't say I don't. I would like there to be better relations between in-state schools that have success in basketball. But there aren't.

At the end of the day, it doesn't matter. And I am starting to get upset about the media constantly talking about it. At first I thought it made KU look bad (and it still kind of does). But it, in turn, makes us look whiney. Problem is, people don't seem to understand that media outlets keep bringing it up, and not Marshall himself, the program, players, ect.

I understand that. I was under the impression, like I think most people were, that KU scheduled Colorado because of Tad Boyle and not because of the struggle to schedule quality home games as the article states.

Jamar you usually don't use the straw man but here it is square and center. When did I or anyone else say that KU doesn't need to "work hard" on recruiting. Do I think they need to schedule SDSU and UNLV to help recruiting? No. My comments were solely in the context of KU being inconsistent with a variety of reasons for not scheduling and the "recruiting" angle is more than convenient. As to lumping in Colorado, looks like the quote from Katz above makes my point for me. KU looks for quality home opponents . . .
