Cle is definitely a SF in the NBA scheme of things.

Just as an illustration, the Spurs have two guys listed on their roster at SF. One is Kawhi Leonard, who's a bit shorter but bulkier than Cle is; the other is a former Gonzaga player, Austin Daye, who's listed at 6-11, 200 pounds. Yes, a 6-11 SF. Their PFs are guys like Tim Duncan and Boris Diaw, both listed at 250 pounds. Cle can't bang with guys like that -- so he's a SF.

Projections are one thing... But I think his skill set translates greatly to the NBA. I believe he'll earn his spot and PT later in the year.

Kawhi Leonard is only about 6'5", 2 or 3 inches shorter than Cleanthony. But Leonard has long arms and freaky huge hands so he plays like a 6'9" guy. I never liked him at SDSU but now he's one of my favorite players to watch.

Fwiw, Leonard is 6'7. He's such a great player. He affects the game in so many different ways. Kind of like a taller longer Toure.

The Spurs do list Leonard at 6-7, and he's outstanding -- although I sure wish he had made one more free throw against Miami in the final minute of Game 6 last year; he'd probably also have a ring if he had.

Anyway, Early could certainly back him up, but unfortunately from my point of view as a Spurs fan, Kawhi plays enough minutes and is young enough that depth behind him probably isn't a top draft priority.

FWIW Doug Smith was listed at 6'10" and he was only 6'7". Kareem was listed at 7' or 7'1" and he was more like 7'3". Barkley was listed at 6'6" and he was a shade over 6'4". Amar'e Stoudemire listed at 6'11" and he might be 6'9". Ben Wallace was listed at 6'9" and he was certainly under 6'8". I could go on and on.

Point is after seeing hundreds of college games from the floor level at multiple arenas I trust my eyes over a roster sheet. The first thing I noticed about Leonard at SDSU was that he didn't appear to be a legit 6'7". Which to me makes his play even more impressive.

Yay I just grew 2 inches! I stood next to Barkley on the floor one time (actually at Kansas Coliseum) and I'm just barely taller. I'm 6'3" ish but lie and say 6'4".
I had season FOOTBALL tix... did you?

New England Comcast article has Cle going to Oklahoma City.

                      29. Oklahoma City: Cleanthony Early, SF, Wichita State (=) — Tremendous senior year, plenty of questions as to whether his game translates at the next level.

Ummmmmmm....am I missing something here? If Cle doesn't translate to the NBA, how does SoW translate to the NBA?

Cle is one of the college guys whose skill-set, body type, athleticism actually DIRECTLY translate to an NBA position.

Will he be an All-Star? Don't know. But if he isn't, it won't be because his game didn't fit in with the NBA, it will be that his game wasn't as good as that of an All-Star.

My biggest hope for Cle is that he surrounds himself with the right people over the next couple of years. He has made good choices in that regard previously, and I hope he keeps it up. If he does, I have no doubt he will be tremendously successful.

Doug McDermott's game translates to the NBA the same way that Kyle Korver's game did and Korver has had a long NBA career and made a boatload of money. Time will tell.

That would be a good setup with Stevens at the helm of a young team.

Cle is in a great spot. He is going to more than likely get drafted towards the tailend of the first round. So not only will he be given a guranteed contract, but he will be going to a good team. Goodmans latest mock draft has him going to the Clippers at 28. I wouldn't mind that at all. Pretty good chance he will wind up on a team that should be good for the forseeable future (Thunder, Clippers, Spurs, Rockets, Grizzlies, Heat, Suns)

I dont follow the NBA at all. Is that important? Do good teams tend to have better player development or do bad teams typically excel in that area because of the bonus playing time? Which option will help Cle be the best player in five years?
