They would be dumb to fire him based off one season.
Hell, Kentucky lost in the opening round of the NIT last season. The Assman

I'll also be surprised if we don't hear in the near future that Marquette is being investigated by the NCAA. You don't leave Marquette for Virginia Tech willingly unless you're making a run for it.

There's nothing Marquette has that WSU doesn't in which Marshall has shown an interest (plus, they're in Milwaukee, for heaven's sake), and he has a better chance of competing for national championships -- and doing so now -- right where he is. He's had that caliber team two years in a row, and WSU could easily be just as good next year, or close to it. True, there's no replacing Early's combination of skills and attitude; but the rest of the nucleus is back, and there's no reason to doubt that they can even get better. Additional depth at PG probably means slightly fewer minutes, less fatigue, and hopefully even more productive play for FVV, Baker, and even Cotton; history suggests that Darius Carter will take a step forward; and the presence of an uncommonly mature and experienced freshman like Zach Brown, plus the redshirts and the rest of Marshall's best recruiting class ever -- if WSU can stay healthy, all of that can help make up for Early's departure, even if in different ways.
Now that we know a season can end with a total of one loss and somehow be unsatisfying, at least for the moment, I'd gladly settle for two losses next year if they're accompanied by 38 wins. That may not be easy -- actually it won't be easy for anyone to accomplish -- but it's a heck of a lot more likely for Marshall at WSU than it would be at Marquette.

You guys need to stop with the "if Marshall found the perfect coaching job, he'd leave" talk. Marshall is already at his perfect coaching job. If we want this program to continue to be looked at as an elite program, this needs to stop. You won't hear the fans of Kentucky, Duke, Kansas, or other elite programs talking about "if our coach finds the perfect coaching job".

In reality, it simply says a lot about you. When someone admits that they misjudged something/someone, the correct response is to applaud their ability to admit their error.
Come back when you have matured beyond middle school.
