Estimate flights at that time will run over $1,500 per person. Diamond Head Classic site has a land package that includes 5 nights and transfers (airport, games) at $1,000-1,340 per person (double occ). So, how about $5,500 per couple minimum for starters.

Took a look at United's flight times and the best times (and some of the best priced currently) are probably going to go quickly. Even at that, you'll spend 14+ hours getting there. There's a few more that are shorter time overall, but they are more expensive, long "in the air" time (Chicago to Hawaii is a beeatch), or arrive late. Best might be the Wichita to Denver to Honolulu. Cost's about $1,850 per person, but gets in around 4:00 PM their time (leaves Wichita at 7:00 AM) and has short "in the air" time. I don't even find the flight we took earlier this year. Left at 10:00 AM, arrived at 3:00 PM (their time) and, not being around Christmas, was over a $1,000 LESS per ticket.
That time of year is a killer. We spent 14 nights (15 days) between 2 islands, had the island hop flight, nice accommodations, and convertibles on both islands for less than $4,500.

We flew in the week before thanksgiving last year and they were $1000 less per ticket than anything the week of thanksgiving through Christmas. They are expensive that time of year and we bought our 8 months in advance. Didn't matter. But the wife loves Hawaii and we're going to go to Maui in 2017 to catch the Shox.I just want to stand on land...

If I had a gun with two bullets and was in a room with Hitler, Bin Laden, and a Creighton fan, I think I'd shoot the Creighton fan twice.

Just ask STL. Rumor has it, the 90% decline in beer sales are why the MVC has to shop around for a new local now.The Assman

We purchased 6 flight tickets in april but they still were 1500 ea. but good trip to Dallas, then straight to Oahu. Taking all four kids for Christmas! will be great fun. Have a house rented through VRBO.com for the 21/st-28/th 10 minuites south of Honolulu. All we are waiting on now is for the event tickets to go on sale.

Accomdations in Oahu in Dec
[I checked into this a month ago. Unless you reserve a room in Honolulu or somewhere on Oahu at least 6 mos or more in advance, it is very difficult to get one now. There is a chance that the WSU team will stay at the Westin in downtown Honolulu, but it depends on how ESPN assigns hotels to the various teams.regardless, I took a chance & checked out the Westin. It's already booked for the dates with the tournament is to take place.
