006 - Wichita State

Let's look at this from a different angle. theoretically we will play against a #193 team, #55 team (will probably be better next year), and #31 or #32 team for the Championship game. Two possible Top 50 games. We only have a couple of Top 50 games this year.

I made the mistake of heading over to a Husker forum to see if they were talking about this upcoming tournament, and found this gem in a somewhat related thread:

Last year the Valley was very senior-laden (N. Iowa and Illinois St.) and one man, also senior, teams (Evansville and Indiana St.). Lot of talent graduated which is why WSU had such an easy time this year. They are flat out not a superior team. They lost two of their top 3 guys from last year and trailed a lot of games at half this season, think it was 9/30 which is bad. Creighton would run them out of the gym and Nebraska would shut them down. Expect them to lose to a 7 or 10 seed in the tourney

There's something in the water in the entirety of Nuhbraska. Just like Blowjay fans, looks like Husker fans also suffer from a superiority complex that is not supported by history or metrics. Here we have a fan of a program who has never won an NCAA tourney game, trumpeting that program as well as another program that only has a single, 40 year-old S16, all over a program that truly wipes the floor with those programs historically.

I guess they forget a few years ago when we had a much inferior team to current, and they had a fairly comparable team to current, and we ran them out of the gym at the Chuck in the NIT. We won by almost 30, IIRC.

That would mean that we lost in the elite 8, since a #1 wouldn't play a 7/10 until then. I wouldn't like it but I would take it. I guess that wasn't a very good slam on our team, saying we would only make the Elite 8.

I don't see much to laugh about other than the run us out of the gym part. Nebraska is making noise in the B1G. And t is NOT outrageous to state we could lose earlier then we expect.

I know our team will not sleep on the Huskers. We should not either. If they are such a joke, why are you trolling there?

Don't make the mistake of giving Nebraska more respect than they deserve and undersell the Shocks. Nebraska is definitely better. Any idiot can see it because they are not fighting their way out of last place. But their road record isn't very good so don't overdo it.

I scanned their Wikipedia page and couldn't find any mention of NCAA wins. Maybe when someone figures that out they can add a section detailing every magical run that they've made throught the tournament.

My boss is a Nebraska grad who is also a hardcore Shocker fan, so I've been hearing a lot about them lately. They are definitely trending up. But they don't have a leg to stand on yet.
