Crazy stuff happens in the NCAA tournament. The best team doesn't always end up winning. But I feel very confident about the opportunity we've created for ourselves.

It's hard to imagine the change in our perspective in just two years. Who would have ever thought going into last season that we'd be in a position to consider anything short of an Elite 8 to be a failure the very next season?

The fact that people aren't beating down Coach Marshall's door throwing $4 million at him and begging him to come in blows me away. The fact that Duke and UNC are probably too close-minded to ever go out of their coaching tree delights me to no end.
Not that I disagree with Marshall being worth the money, but I don't think UNC or Duke are looking or will be looking for a coach for awhile. Coach K is a legend at Duke, he'll be able to stay until he dies, I'm sure.

Not only is he a legend, he has proven himself as the best coach in the world.

I know I'm taking your quote out of context and maybe I should post this elsewhere but it's been on my mind for a while.

Last year Louisville drew inspiration from Kevin Wares injury. We all remember the gruesome injury and win for ware storyline. No offense to Kevin, because his injury was terrible, but the Shockers had a kid literally die at a preseason practice. Thanks to Todd Fagan he survived but was told he can't play the sport he loves anymore. I'm interested to see what kind of life that story line takes on when/if the media picks it up.

This team's ceiling is the Sweet 16. Our 3 point FG percentage is abysmal, our overall FG percentage is barely average, we lack QUALITY depth, our post play is inconsistent, Colbey averages more personal fouls per game than points it seems, we're not terribly athletic and susceptible to teams who are, we're prone to sleep walking for a half and come tourney time, good teams will make us pay for doing just that. We haven't been tested since December and we'll be exposed for it. And lastly, we are a FVV, RB or CE injury away from our season tanking.

Now, we all know the tourney is all about match ups and upsets that end up benefitting you. After selection Sunday, I will throw out my official tourney prediction. This is just an appetizer. :)
And I thought this was a Fan message board! Yeah, I know I'm not too bright. If this becomes too much of a Lukewarm Follower Board I may have to join Cold and his cohorts.

How sad a life when you never have dreamed or aspired to reaching for the stars. Let alone actually reaching for the stars like our Shocker teams have done the last 2 years. It's not always the end result that is the most important thing. It is the reaching. Once you quit reaching you are just existing.

Someone help me out here. KC has always been a debbie downer, but he used to be on the fan spectrum, just on the pessimistic side. Now, he is off the charts and has suddenly become a full out troll. Am I missing something?

                KC, care to explain?

Yes, you're missing that he was a full on troll then too. I don't see any difference between KC now and then.

I don't get it. Ever since joining Shockernet, I believe my viewpoints and comments have never wavered from being consistent. I'm a self proclaimed 'realists', unfortunately, my use of pragmatism rubs the vast majority of ShockerNet fans the wrong way - some more than others (ABC and Wu). It just so happens that in a season where our record is unblemished, viewpoints that stray from the norm stand out like a neon sign. As a side note, I do appreciate our moderators for allowing all of us to speak our mind - they too have been consistent with the policing of SN.

I will never ever be influenced or pressured to conform to the Shockernet Sunshine Pumper's philosophy of message board etiquette. In this case, speak no evil of our beloved Shox or be ostracized. I will continue to call it like I see it. Yes, our record is perfect, but if you think this team is perfect then I've got to wonder who here has the problem.

I'll place a different spin on my earlier postseason prediction. This team is capable of winning the whole freakin' thing, but this team is also capable of being knocked out in the round of 32. I will concede and say I should have waited for the final NCAA bracket before I predicted the Sweet 16 as the Shox's ceiling. How far a team advances in March Madness has a lot to do with the match ups. I'll rescind this prediction and wait until Selection Sunday.

You don't need to pump sunshine but an occasional "good job boys", or "this team is better than I thought" would suffice. You only offer negative opinions and that's what grows tiring. I have no problem having a "realist" view point but give it both ways. It doesn't have to be pro Shox but maybe a little anti (insert school name here) would help. It's only negative shockers pro everyone else. Mix it up. If I only read your posts I would think the Shox were 11-19 and there were 8 schools out there that were undefeated!

Like someone else mentioned, you're going to look back at one of the most amazing seasons we ever had and you'll realized you couldn't even enjoy a minute of it! Enjoy your bitter, pessimistic world! I'll be over here enjoying the warm sunshine and a special shocker season.

Well...I have to say I like the trend.
The last 2 National Champions were in the Final Four the year before they won the whole shebang--Kentucky and Louisville. Weren't we in the FF last year???????

I did learn something today which admittedly doesn't take much. Realist = Pessimist and/or Negativity and expecting the worst outcome.

That's good to know. I'm sure my pessimistic friends will feel much better about themselves if I call them realists. Yeah, that's the ticket.

The Shockers are 28-0. In order to achieve that record 50% of the time (49.2% actually), they would have had to have pergame oddsof winning of 97.5%.

Stated the other way, if a 75% winning record of 21-7, if the odds of winning each game were 75%, the odds of being 28-0 are an astounding .000317 or .0317%.

Remember when Nancy Pelosi said about Obamacare:
"We have to pass it, to find out what's in it".

A physician called into a radio show and said:
"That's the definition of a stool sample."

Coach K is 67. I doubt he keeps coaching that much longer. Five to ten more years?

Five to ten years is a long time. For Coach K another 5 years would mean another 150 wins and several tournament accolades basing that off his previous years. Another 10 years would mean 300 wins probably and at least 1 National Championship. He has averaged 1 National Championship a decade.
