40-0, it's NOT CLOSE, and I would help Gregg pack if he asked.

Life is about change folks. Don't be scared of change. Chances are you'll never get to see the ring, if you have a chance, grab that sob.
I'll help also... we'll start packing when Greg returns from Augusta National.

I'm in. I'm a very slow packer. Like, with an estate the size of Marshall's I could see it taking me 7-10 years to get all that packed up.

I have to be honest a Final 4 and 26-0 already surpasses my wildest expectations. 40-0 and a National Championship is almost more than I can comprehend (although I admit that is not that high of a bar).

I think I will be satisfied with just letting this magical season play out and see where we end up. Augusta National though sure sounds like a nice destination.

Setting aside the stupidity of the question (and it is stupid because there is no world in which Marshall is more likely to leave after a National Championship than after an Elite Eight - in fact the opposite is true), I think that anyone picking against the National Championship is nuts.

          1. A National Championship is the whole point of having a good coach. You don't pass on National Championships, much less undefeated seasons.

          2. If you are concerned about the program dropping off with the departure of Marshall, is 5 extra years really compensation for an undefeated National Championship team? The same thing theoretically happens after those five years are up, so it is not like a guarantee of decades of success if you think things would tank after Marshall. If you believe that with multiple Final Fours, a National Championship, a $2 million dollar coaching salary, and sold out arena we won't be able to sustain success after Marshall, it would be even harder to sustain success without that National Championship to recruit future coaches and players to.

Once again, the whole thing is stupid because a National Championship makes retaining Marshall easier, not harder, so winning the whole thing gives you the best of both scenarios.

The 40-0 is more or less irrelevant to me in the question. 36-2 with Evansville taking 2 out of 3 from us would be really close to 40-0 for me. (other than the fact that I'm going to go to St. Louis and it would make for a very painful weekend).

I'd eat them both at the same time in exchange for a WSU national championship. I know others who would help.

This is a ridiculous question!! Of course you take national championship. That's the whole point of sports, to strive to be the best. I'd give my left testicle right now for a national championship. Hell, I'd give both nuts for one and just take a testosterone supplement.

What happens in those next 5 years? Will it be elite 8 and ff's or playing on thursday in the MVC? Without knowing that u take the NC. How do u know u won't be able to hire a new coach better than him?

Oh, an for those who think we hire an assistant of the staff - that would be Cohen-esque.

Plus the "X' factor' the premium he places on family time. I don't think the lure of something "bigger" trumps his desire for quality family time which he would lose by undertaking a new challenge. How refreshing to think that we've got a coach with his priorities straight, just listen to his comments

I have no idea why people are ripping apart the question. (The ripping apart Lutz, I get it, he annoys me too). It's a hypothetical question just for fun and discussion. Lighten up a little. The same types of questions you probably ask with your friends when you're at a bar and just bs'ing with each other. That's one of the fun things about sports, just debating stupid ****.

                        With that said: National Championship.

This kind of stupidity is why I don't tune into that show anymore. There are two other local shows (Press Box-1410, Shane Dennis-1240) who cover the shockers with more intelligence and depth than Bob could ever dream of. Even the morning show on KGSO, manned by two young KU homers, manages to provide more interesting coverage of the shockers.

I only wish there was another local option from 9-11 because I don't like dan Patrick (who Bruce tries to emulate) either.

I wasn't really old enough to follow Shocker Basketball during the Cohen years, but I still believe the following wholeheartedly:

I don't know about other people but I'm ripping the question because it epitomizes the poor coverage of the shockers they provide. Bruce generally tries to bring some interesting points but all bob has said this entire season is "well, the valley is no good. The shockers haven't played anyone." Apparently he's expanded his repertoire to asking pie in the sky hypothetical questions with no basis in reality or purpose outside of allowing him to talk about his other favorite shocker subject - when is Gregg Marshall going to leave.
