"I not sure that I've ever been around a more competitive player or young man than Fred VanVleet. I like to win more than 99.9% of the people in this world, but he may top me." -- Gregg Marshall 12/23/13 :peaceful:
--------------------------------------- Remember when Nancy Pelosi said about Obamacare: "We have to pass it, to find out what's in it".
A physician called into a radio show and said: "That's the definition of a stool sample."
I'm not buying into this 40 minutes of ball cliche. Other teams in the valley have to play 40 minutes of great ball just to stay with us and have a chance.
It's like Marshall said throughout the NCAA tournament, we don't have to be perfect to win, we just need to play well.
It's ISU that will have to play 40 minutes of darn near perfect ball Wednesday in order to win. We could play well and still get run over...
In both games this week, if we can just avoid getting down big early - even just a 2 -6 point halftime lead - and giving the opponent that shot of confidence that they can hang with us, then I would really, really like our chances in both.
I agree. Even when we were down by 15 I didn't think that we were done. In every game this year when we were behind I always felt it was just a matter of time before the run started and the good guys would prevail. I think its because they have just been so damn tough mentally the last two years.
The outcome of this game may well depend on how the officials call the game. If either team gets into foul trouble, this may turn out to be a battle royal.
I agree with others here in SN that Marshall's teams seem to really thrive on road games and playing in hostile environments. The trees, however, are not going to be as easy to dispatch if we get down by double digits, especially if that carries over into the 2nd half. The play of our bench is going to extremely important in this game, more so than others I believe, as I think the officiating will be much tighter Wednesday night.
