I think this will be one of the few opportunities we'll have to play for a full 40 minutes. Usually either we start late or finish early, but Marshall has shown the ability to get a team to play at its highest potential for a game like this (see: @Creighton two years ago). I think we come out with focus, but Indiana State will push us until the buzzer sounds. I'd like to see what 40 minutes of the our best looks like, since that is what we'll need in March.

Hello Shocker fans! Welcome to Hoosier Hysteria! Ok, that might be a bit much, but it should be a fun atmosphere in Hulman Center on Wednesday night. I fully expect ISU to show up for this one (unlike the game out there), and it should be a great game. You guys should be #2 in the polls, but as a Sycamore fan who was here for the '79 season, I know how the corrupt polls work. Either way, your Shockers will be the highest rated visiting team ever to play at Hulman Center.
I figure this will be a game of runs. Can the Sycamores blunt the Shockers runs to stay close? Do the Shockers finally succumb to the pressure and give up a big run to the Trees? I think this will be a close game down the stretch. My head says one thing, and my heart says another. This time, I'll go with my heart.
Sycamores 72
Shockers 67
Either way, I think this game will showcase how good basketball is in the MVC. Underrated, for sure.

WSU and Indiana State are both coming off wins.
Indiana State is 2 games back in the standings, If they want the MVC title this is a must win.
They can't afford to get 3 games behind WSU.
Indiana State will have a really vocal home crowd.
They were embarrassed at WSU, they won't want a replay.
If Indiana State wants any chance at large bid to the NCAA Tournament, this is a must win.
If WSU wins, they have a good chance at winning the MVC title.
They are still playing to stay undefeated.
They are a great road team.
I think the pressure of being undefeated and highly ranked is starting to get to them.
I think WSU wins by 4 if they bring it and don't get behind early.
If WSU gets behind early Indiana State could win by 4 as well.

I mean if they were limping by teams by 1 or 2 points and eeking out wins, I'd say you have a point. But the last game they were actually tested in was on the road at Missouri State in a game where another opponent was shooting out of their minds. And it was another game where if the pressure got to them, they probably wouldn't have come back down 19 points midway through the second half. And the last test before that was a December 17th game at Alabama.
So again. Please enlighten us on how the pressure is starting to get to them.
And even if you were right, that's kind of a nice problem to have. But you're not right.Deuces Valley.
... No really, deuces.

We did the same thing last night in Frostbite Falls in the first half. Then, Lansing finally had enough. "I lost it at halftime. I lost it on the guys. I tried to challenge that starting group. That group hasn't defended well. It hasn't started halves very well. I told them it's time," Lansing said. "I was tired of seeing it. I think the way they came out in the second half showed they were tired of playing that way."
I hope this continues. The team responds to Lansing's emotion.
If we play with heart on Wednesday, we have a shot.

I think even if they beat WSU, that's a large hole to climb out of.

As usual...
RefChick & I will be there.
Will probably stop at the BallyHoo before the game too and commiserate with some ISU individuals. Just something we have to do.
Expect more than the usual 3-4K to show up.
Should be an interesting 2 hours of ball.
That is all.Above all, make the right call.

I'm not buying into this 40 minutes of ball cliche. Other teams in the valley have to play 40 minutes of great ball just to stay with us and have a chance.
It's like Marshall said throughout the NCAA tournament, we don't have to be perfect to win, we just need to play well. You miss 100% of the shots you don't take....
.....but, statistically speaking, you miss 99% of the shots you do take.

Comparative Stats from StatSheet
"I not sure that I've ever been around a more competitive player or young man than Fred VanVleet. I like to win more than 99.9% of the people in this world, but he may top me." -- Gregg Marshall 12/23/13 :peaceful:
