Jake White will be forever known as the guy who, unfortunately, could not hit a 3 his last year here. The saddest thing about that was that White was actually a pretty good 3-point shooter. He just couldn't buy one last year.

The other thing he will be forever known for is his inability to get charge call.. Sometimes he was set and motionless for longer than the Earth has existed, and he still got called for the block.

These aren't knocks on Jake. They're just observations of his game. I don't think the comments I've seen lately in any way denigrate White's contribution to the Shox - in a F4 year. I really think it's commentary about one of the most unlucky players the Shox have had in a while.

White's skill surpassed his contribution, and it wasn't for a lack of hustle. Sometimes things just don't go right.
The future's so bright - I gotta wear shades.
We like to cut down nets and get sized for championship rings.

Yes, that was me, and I liked Jake White, too -- a hard worker, good rebounder, defender, and hustler. I wish him success once he becomes eligible at Nebraska-Omaha (which apparently now refers to itself as just "Omaha," in the style of "Memphis," although those two are not exactly similar from a basketball standpoint). I think he'll probably shoot okay in Omaha, too -- last year was just one of those inexplicable things. But I'm still glad Cotton's extra shooting work last year ended up paying off as it did; and with no disparagement of White intended whatsoever, I still hope Wessel gets on the Cotton track later this season rather than the White track.

I wish we had Jake on the team this year. He'd be a good contributor off the bench.
