        • Yet again, another team snaps defeat from the jaws of victory.

According to both Sagarin and KenPom, Boise State is about 12 slots better than InSU.

            • While I know that SDSU losing helps us some, I don't really mind seeing the top 5 populated by multiple non-BCS teams, so it has been hard for me to root too hard against them. This is especially true because I respect any team that plays defense as well as they do (the exact opposite of how I feel about Creighton).

According to the RPIi, Indy St is 4 places better than Boise (56 vs. 60). The Basketball committee looks uses the RPIi. I don't think they look at kenpom or sagarin.

I'm with you. I'd rather have Arizona and Florida lose a couple games first then have SDSU lose now. For one, it would awesome if we could get to #1 and #2 together. For two, they beat KU at KU. Hard to hate another team from a non-power conference after that.

Members of the committee are allowed to (and do) use statistical ranking systems like kenpom and sagarin. The RPI is what shows up on the nitty-gritty sheets, so it plays a big role in the committee deliberations, but individual committee members can look at the other data as well.

                    • As soon as SDSU loses, KU will jump them. SDSU creates a solid barrier for us in that respect.

SDSU is a team that you want right behind you. It keeps the Jayhawk panties in a twist.

We don't need anyone else to lose anymore other than Arizona, Florida and Syracuse.

Win Saturday and we might start seeing some number 1 votes already. If Syracuse loses during the same week that we survive a tough road swing, we might take over as actual number 1

I'm not with you. I have found SDSU fans insufferable on the bracketology and rankings stories claiming their one win over Kansas and loss to Arizona justifies them as a better resume team than WSU, when the rest of their non-con schedule being crap and then scraping by a lot of lesser teams.

                        But that's just me.
You miss 100% of the shots you don't take....

.....but, statistically speaking, you miss 99% of the shots you do take.

                        • I'd like the Aztecs to drop another game soon since about 1 in 3 voters are slotting them ahead of us.

After that, they can win em all til March.

                          • With SLU's 65-49 win at St. Joe's tonight they set a school record with 15 straight wins. They also have one of the longest active winning streak's in the country behind the Shockers, Syracuse and SDSU. They are in first place in the A-10 with a perfect 9-0 conference record (VCU is in second) and are undefeated in true road games this season. Hopefully they can keep this up and crack the top 10 soon.

                            • Oregon is @ Arizona tonight. Maybe Altman will do us a solid for once.

Cincinnati is another team we need to start cheering against, they kind of came out of nowhere and are up to #7. They're at home tonight against UCONN. Cincinnati actually has a worse SoS than us currently but I don't think the pollsters will hesitate to jump them over us if they keep winning and SDSU and Villanova lose.

I've sort of quit worrying about the teams right behind us. There will always be somebody nipping at our heals waiting to jump us. As soon as one team loses, the next in line simply takes it's place.
