In other words, the RPI Forecast model is already taking into account the losses that would be unexpected by projecting the games individually. If we went game by game, we would be expected to go undefeated and be #1 in the RPI. As long as we have 4 or fewer losses, it doesn't matter who they come to for us to be a top 10 RPI team.

As long as we take care of business and lose 4 or fewer games from here on out, the only thing that could hurt our overall ranking is our opponents winning fewer games than expected against non-WSU competition.
A very good explanation. Thumbs up!

It's not that amazing. We're used to stuff like that now. We're ranked in the Top 10 and we finished the 2012 season with an RPI of 12.

Absolutely, ShockTalk. Every year we hear in March how the selection committee uses RPI as one of many guides, not a rule, and how bad losses and good wins are specifically considered.

The "yawn... no big deal... we are used to being super awesome" comments feel like a race to become the arrogant jerks that so many posters on this board are tired of already. Don't complain about KU fans and then run full speed ahead to join their club.

Answer me this... When was the last time WSU had a top 10 RPI on selection sunday?

Amazing was a poor word choice for you. Amazing would be going undefeated in the regular season and achieving a No.1 ranking. Being in the Top 10 of the RPI is something we've practically achieved recently and are currently 3 spots from it. Is it cool? Yeah. Is it awesome to see? You betcha. But acting like we've never seen it before is amateurish.

I dunno the answer to your irrelevant question because I think we've already been through this before. We finished 2 spots below that benchmark a short 21 months ago.

Now you answer me this: Wanna make another prediction for the Shocks this year? Think the NIT is in their future like you awesomely predicted last year? Is that why you were absent from the board for so long? Shame?

if we lost to a 24-3 team and won vs a 3-24 team our WP = .5 and our OWP =.5 and the OOWP doesn't change
it would be the same if it was reversed.

The only factor is the 1.4/0.6 Home vs Away.

                Updated today

                Items of note:
Illinois St jumping up 74 spots
                SIU falling into the 300's

Three of our last four non-conference opponents are all Top 100 RPI teams currently.

Valley individual team rpis are not look too bad except for the three outliers, who are atrocious. You would like 100-200 for the cellar dwellers, not maxing out +/- 300.

@EB 22:, you left two sets of numbers in for the MVC rpis this time.

We've "practically achieved it" once in the past 25 years, therefore it is the norm and to be expected? 2 years ago was close, but I've been a fan of WSU basketball for 25 years and never seen a top 10 RPI on selection sunday. You say it would be "awesome to see", but I'm not allowed to call it "amazing"? We disagree on plenty of things of substance, but on this one, you are just making up a disagrement where one doesn't even exist so that you can avoid responding to my actual criticisms of you becoming like the very KU fans that you seem to despise.

The question is relevant because it shows just how long it has been since WSU has been in this position. You saying we almost reached this benchmark 2 years ago proves my point. The best regular season of the past 25 years was still not quite up to this level. I'm looking at the possibility of the best regular season I've ever witnessed as a WSU fan. That is why I'm excited.

Unrelated rabit trails are all you seem to bring to the conversation. My prediction last year is irrelvant to this conversation, but since you bring it up, I love how you continue to mention my prediction of a disappointing season last year and repeatedly fail to mention that you made an equally grave prediction that same year. We both predicted a mediocre season and we were both proven wrong, but who cares? What's your point of even bringing this up? The art of distraction seems to be your craft.

Although just so you can't claim I refused to answer your question Fever...

I think WSU will finish with 4 regular season losses, win the Valley, win Arch Madness (finally!), get a 3 seed, make the Sweet 16, and lose to the 2 seed they face.

                        Fair enough?
