General or Admiral would be something we would give to Coach Marshall. VanVleet would be some rank under that. Colonel would be good.

Marshall is commander-in-chief of all armed forces. I like General Van Vleet, Colonel Baker, using all their privates to slap around some Valley teams.

We need more out of our 5's. Didn't think they rebounded very well, and they missed a lot of bunnies. Derail still looks like a tweener, but he's young. Everybody has hops, Shaq, Rion, Walker. Love the foul calls, think that's the way it should be called, but might take the players a year or two to adjust; till then, it's damn near unwatchable. Holland has a funny-looking release. He really needs to redshirt, maybe if JR or Bush could contribute a little bit, maybe; or if we get a point guard at semester, somehow. I don't see how Shaq gets many minutes this year. Ok Bap has a lot of size for NAIA, methinks. Does anybody know what recruits were in the house?

I don't see how anybody other than ShockRef would *love* foul calls. Yes, if the other team is fouling, they should be called, but the way they're doing it now is totally a flow killer. Why would the NCAA want to be like the NBA? Do they want defense to be an afterthought?

Grabbing and clutching should absolutely be called. Blowing whistles for touching a jersey with a fingernail should not. Giving the offensive player driving to the lane everytime the benefit of the doubt is NOT the answer. Why reward something that takes little to no skill? Offenses can run plays like that everytime down the floor and with the way things are called now, you could free throws shot at every possession during game play. Sorry, that's NOT the way basketball should be played.

The fact that a referee was quoted as saying something along the lines of there will be no charging calls this year should be a little more than worrisome if you're on the defensive side of the ball. How the HELL are you supposed to defend anything when you're behind the 8-ball from the beginning?

Stop the Evansville brand of basketball, yes. Stop playing defense in basketball? No.

Agree with stopping the mugging, keeping progress from being impeded with grabbing etc. Not fine with rewarding out of control bull rushes to the basket with free throws because the offensive player got touched by the defenders body.

As usual inconsistency by the referees will be maddening, I expect it and am just getting myself ready for it

Agree on the 5's not sure who the "ball getter" is going to be, but their athletic ability is crazy. Will be a different team this year, but different in a good way. Looking forward to Kadeem "throwing down" on the competion in the non-con and especially in the Valley

I'm sorry but the NBA ignorance on this board is getting on my nerves. Anyone who says there is no defense in the NBA game obviously doesn't watch it. If you don't want to watch basketball played at its highest level that's your choice but comments like this make you look dumb.

Even Marshall said something in post game about rebounding. Said they had to go after all the balls, not just the ones in the space above their own heads. Cheat about half again as much into the next guy's territory if necessary, but get the ball.
