Wichita State Set for Shocker Madness

Shocker Madness was a good time, and exponentially better than any prior SM I have attended.

A couple other items others have already mentioned, but I'll add:

The addition of shutters for the arena lights would do wonders for the vibe and emotion of our intros. Can't believe this wasn't just lumped into the scoreboard/entrance boards/sound upgrade we just did a month ago. Guess the cost must be higher than one might assume, but it needs to be done at some point.

The ESPN coverage/exposure - while absolutely better than nothing - was atrocious relative to some of the other 9 sites supposedly represented, but really no worse than the coverage of UNM, Memphis, or FGCU. Admittedly, I DVR-ed the 4 hours and blew through everything but the WSU coverage, so the accuracy of the last part of my prior sentence might have some holes. Interestingly - or not so much - I believe I spent more time managing the fast-forward speed of my DVR than I did watching the glorified snippet on WSU.

It almost looked like it was photoshopped into the room because it was so sharply different from everything behind it.

Yeah, the media has pretty lame so far, all things considering. I think High School football limited resources for the local media outlets, but still, come on.

I've noticed for several years the lack of videos for things like this. Guess it's something the media department needs to work on a little better. Baby steps.

I honestly think they don't do the video because there are so many empty seats. If you can't fill the arena for the event, then there must not be much demand for the product. When 10000 start showing up for Shocker Madness you'll start seeing videos.

The arena was actually almost filled up. They blocked off the upper end zone seats behind the backboard so they couldn't be used but otherwise, it was pretty full.

From almost any camera angle it would have appeared to be full. I have no idea why there wasn't more coverage both by the local media guru's or our own WSU media types.
