ISUr finishing third would be a HUGE surprise even to bird fans. They're excited about their team's incoming talent, but not their win / loss record necessarily.

Difficult to argue with this list right now.

I'm going to go out on a limb and state that everybody's Top 2 are correct. The rest of them are unpredictable and can be drawn out of a hat and almost be as correct as your lists.

                I don't really have a list.

                Clear #1: Shockers.
                Clear #2: Trees.
Okay but very flawed: MoSt, Bradley, UNI
Probably won't be garbage: Evansville, Loyola
                Dumpster fires: IlSt, Drake, SIU

I expect those teams to be grouped by category, but I don't know or care in what order.

What the hey? Nobody is picking us 4th again? Fine!!!! Just fine. It is a hobby of mine to do a study of this my own self and I will do just that soon. However, the gap I see here between us and the other teams caught my eyeballs and looks potentially accurate on how the teams will finish from top to bottom as well.

The past 3 Seasons at least, we have been solid on the road which is of essence in winning the Valley. Two such road games last Season was a mixture of the bitter and the su-weet. There was the silly goal-tending call with less than a tick on the clock at SIU instead of overtime and that was a pill that was crammed down our throat. Speaking of throats, then there was the mystery 'no call' kick to Mr. Cotton's? Oh, almost forgot. Later on they called it? Wasn't we around 7 down with around 40 ticks of the clock but found a way to win at Ill. State? That win was sweet enough to put sugar out of business and was a very important win for us. A loss there could have changed the dynamics of how well we finished the Season? Dunno, but what a fun but needed that win was.

I am very glad to see this thread. This year is very unpredictable because of all the graduations.

When I can't go on proven players, I guess I have to place extra weight on what I think about the coaches.

                        1. WSU. Gregg Marshall with a load of talent. I'm giving myself a high five as I think about just how many conferences I would still rank us 1st in.
                        2. INST. Greg Lansing with an INST sized load of talent. I might have even ranked them above CU this season because I used to love to underestimate the Jays. I have a soft spot for the Trees, and this year I think they are finally for real and might even be top 30-40.
                        3. UNI. Ben Jacobsen should always get the benefit of the doubt. As the water gets murky, it's hard not to start with him. Seth Turtle, Deon Mitchell.
                        4. Bradley. I'm no Ford specialist, but I am just dying to get the Braves back in the top half. Pickett, Lemon, Prosser and that ridiculous 7'1" kid. There is quite a bit there.
                        5. Evansville. Marty Simmons has some good things going up there. Ryan may be gone, but did you see that Balentine kid? I think Czechoslovakolicious is back, too. I think the Aces could be pretty decent.
                        6. Loyola. I know nothing. I just really hope we didn't add a team that will suck worse than the next teams I'm about to mention. It also seems a little classless to put them last when I had never seen them play. If i were really being honest, I might put the next two above them. Here's to the Ramblers not sucking *raises glass*
                        7. SW,D-II,MoST CC. Paul Lusk may very well be a good coach, but I'm not so sure just yet. I did love watching him bench that guy at our house this year when he got his third foul in the first half. Pretty young, I'm pretty sure they are going to be thin in the paint if my memory is correct. Also, screw Kyle Weems. I hate the Bears...in a loving kind of way. They could be pretty good, but I am not ready to say they will be better than the Aces just yet.
                        8. SIU. Barry Hinson will probably have this team finishing better than I am picking, but I can't find a better spot for them than 8th right now. They do still have Desmar Jackson, right? The guy who almost beat us by himself in a game where Cle had 39 points. I can't wait till the MVC gets back to WSU, Bradley and SIU. Those days are coming.
                        9. Drake. Do they even have a coach yet? :) I'm kidding. They do appear to have a Gonzaga man coming in, and there were at least a couple names I at least recognize like Van Deest (who I had previously thought was a senior last year) and Richard Carter. They may not have much going for them, but there is at least some potential. Finally, no one will be as bad as...
                        10. ILL State. Dan Muller is starting over without anything returning. What do you get when you combine nothing with nothing (a sparse roster whom the key returner is all the way down to Kaza Keane and a coach who I'm still not sure can coach), plus a petty staff with a temper and a head case recruit? You get 2-3 wins in the conference and a thank you card from Loyola for helping them enter the conference without too much trouble.

Northern Iowa at 2...I cant put Indiana State above Northern Iowa...but its close...Shocks first, because without seeming cocky, they are just leaps and bounds better then everyone this year...experience plus a reloading process equals tough to beat in any league...FVV, Baker, Cotton, Early and Ludfile with Wessell, Carter, Green, Morris Wiggins, Bowles/Holland in the mix off the bench...just too stacked
