I know, he plays for Omaha U and the love affair between Wichita and such is old news. But the guy can play, period.

There are multiple exhibits to present.
However, his absolute blistering of WSU in their final league game last year should have put any naysayers in the back alley.

The guy can play, the debate is over and done.

        That is all.
He can certainly play offense, SR -- and that last game he was joined by pretty much everyone in a Creighton uniform when it came to shooting, although he was certainly the ringleader. But as we saw from the shocks in March, offense is only part of the game. And on defense he's one step up from an indoor soccer player from many years ago whom Wings fans will remember not so fondly, a great scorer named Steve Zungul. My fellow oldies will know what I'm talking about.

To get back to joco's quite valid point about yet another Shockernet tangent, that's where Cleanthony comes in: I simply share the view that Early is a better NBA prospect than the much more highly publicized McD.

Don't have to be an oldie to remember Zungul. He and Tatu were to Cherry Pickin as the Ravens were to defense.

2014 should be the best draft class since 2003.

Though the 2011 draft has a lot of potential to climb the ranks as well.

Hahaha, you just compared Doug McD to the Michael Jordan of professional indoor soccer. And Doug McD ain't even a pimple on Michael Jordan's right butt cheek. Zungul was the impetus to four professional national championships in a row. Saying that McD's slow footwork and weak defense is better than Zungul's defensive ability is crazy speak. You didn't see defense out of Zungul because he was so efficient on offense that it forced the other team to play defense while they were on offense. McD is too slow to command that type of respect on offense. McD has a deadly accurate ability to drop the ball in the hoop out of set plays though.

              Creative analogy though! :)

While I agree, and I think Cle's skills translate perfectly to the NBA, he's going to need to prove this season that he can play with consistency and with enough intelligence to mitigate dumb penalties that take him out of games. Right now, those penalties are the only thing holding him back. I think he's going to have a monster year ... but he's still going to have to show it consistently. And as I've said before, if he makes the JUCO Senior jump that our other JUCO AAs have while getting the fouls squared away, he's a national POY candidate and potentially a lottery pick.

While I think McDermott has a lower ceiling, he's already proven for years his ability, and the floor for him is very high as far as heading to the NBA. If he's a true 6'8", he might even be able to bring his post game to the court. And his 49% 3 point shot is crazy. JJ Redick has made a career in the NBA as a 3/mid-range specialist ... and he averaged 40.6% from 3 over his career at Duke, with a single season high of 42.1%. I think he'll have a long career in the NBA as a 6th/7th man.

It'll be easier to accept if Cleanthony has a long career as a starter on a better team.

At the final four, my seats were about six seats from Doug's. It was really awesome to see people bump into him and crawl over him to get to their seats without having any idea who he was. I was still unhappy that we lost 2 of 3 to them this year and I wanted to go over to him and say "the Wichita state players didn't have to pay for their seats" but I restrained myself.

He is a very good college basketball player with a very old man's game. I still draft Cle though if it's up to me.

You could well be right on both counts, Rlh. Early's chief enemy so far has been himself in the form of really silly fouls, and he needs to avoid them and show he can get his full minutes night in and night out. If he does, the production will almost certainly follow. As for the other guy, I remember that Steve Kerr had a long career as essentially just a deadeye shooter and, by being on the right teams at the right time -- and making his own unique contribution -- came away with a handful of championship rings.

To each his own, DJ -- if he ends up with the Spurs, I'll become a fan immediately.

*sigh* Okay, but the first thing I do is on NBA2k is make Anthony Tolliver and Kyle Korver suck as much as possible. On 2k12 I put Cliff on my team and upped his abilities and then played AT and KK

Playing with the 1985 Atlanta Hawks and starting both Cliff and Antoine is also a great thing to do.

                                I'll see your Zungul-McDermott and raise you a Cotton-Roentved, Baker-Chapman, and Van Vleet-Kristensen

I think I'm at risk of spraining something if I try to find matches for Stan Stamenkovic, Slobo Ilijevski, and Zoltan Toth.
