Why? Because we judge players based on reality instead of the jersey they wear? I'm a WSU fan not a Creighton/other team hater. If that makes me less of a Shocker in anyone's eyes, well, that's not my problem.

Now you stick to that, and everything else is cream cheese.

Not a lot to talk about anything, really.Originally posted by BleacherReportFred VanVleet on Shockers' 3-Pt Shooting Confidence -- ' Honestly, I just tell these guys to let their nuts hang.'

OK, so it's summer and the season is still far away and we don't have a hellovalot to talk about.
If I had to choose between Cle and Doug, or should I use the endearing term Dougie, to belittle the young man, I would take Cle every time. He is one of ours. He is a Shocker. End of story.
But when it appears that we cannot enjoy the pure basketball talents of a player from another team, but only find ways to degrade him, we are ignoring one of the true great things about any sport and that is the competition between both great athletes and teams. Tear down the opposing team's players and the opposing team as well, and you have cheapen your victory and/or even worsened your loss, now haven't you.
The battles between Wilt and Russell were spectacular and undoubtedly fans of each thought their guy was vastly superior to the other. And this is the way it should be. Ya think, though, anyone describing the two referred to either as Wiltie or Billie Boy? And, I seriously doubt that there was a single BB fan of either team that wouldn't have loved to have had both of them on their team.
And now that we will not be playing CU or having to compete against their All American this year, is everyone really happy? Will you really cherish two easy wins (they damn well better be) against a much inferior replacement Valley team, with much less skilled players?
I, for one, will miss the fun of our very talented guys competing against and beating CU. And I will miss enjoying the play of their AA and watching Cotton and others in their battles to contain him.
But we do have several very good teams on our schedule and there will be some very good players to compete against. The road to the NCAA tournament is wide open. All we have to do is get there and conquer.

Let me ask the folks a slightly different question:
Let's say you are the head coach for the Norfendike Nerfenbergers men's basketball team. Who would you rather have on your team, Doug McDermott or Jackie Carmichael?Kung Wu say, man who read woman like book, prefer braille!

Not bracketology, but preseason predictions by CBS's main guys.
No surprises really with the Valley picks.
I really like Jon Rothstein's Big East picks though. I think he's right on the money with that one. :good:
And somebody forgot to tell Matt Norlander that Ponyboy Colt Ryan graduated. Stay gold, Ponyboy. Stay gold.Kung Wu say, man who read woman like book, prefer braille!
