  • Shockers are a 2 seed in this morning's Bracketology by Lunardi. WSU gets sent to St. Louis in this projection and would face the winner of Creighton-Texas in the Round of 32. That would be fun.

Also of note: SLU is a 9 seed, Tennessee is an at-large play-in team, and BYU falls to the "Next Four Out." Strangely, ISUb is projected to sneak in as a 14 seed as MVC Tournament champions.

I love being projected as a 2 seed this early. Lunardi is a so-so bracketologist, but he gets more page clicks than all the others combined and helps frame the media conversation.

    • I would thoroughly enjoy watching Dougie's final college game.

      • Creighton in the round of 32 is as good as a bye

        • We could rest our starters and get them ready for the Sweet 16 match up.

          • That is actually a very favorable bracket. Duke looks like a pretty weak 3 seed, and we already know we can play with Ohio State.

We would probably get Texass because we know how historically successful cretin has been in tournament.

Personally, I would rather play Texas, but they could prove to be a very tough out. They are huge on the front line, and will make CLE, Darius, Chadrack, and Kadeem earn every rebound they get. Fortunately for us, I think we are deeper on the front line.

Texas would also provide a very interesting head to head matchup with Fred VanVleet and chubby Fred VanVleet (Javon Felix). That would be surreal seeing those to twins (separated at birth) on the floor together.

If we play Creighton fine, but my dream run would be Texas, Duke, Louisville, and Ohio State.

Dream FF out of this bracket: WSU, Michigan State or Syracuse, Arizona, Wisconsin

                  • I regret being late to this party, regarding our visiting "bracketologist".

Another issue that I didn't see pointed out yet is that he says KSU won't make the tournament partly because of their RPI. Not only does that contradict his methodology of basing the bracket off of projections, he missed the fact that a team's RPI has no bearing whatsoever on their selection or seeding. It's a tool to determine good/bad wins and losses. Nothing more.

A bracketology based on what might happen, when we're over half a season from that point is virtually worthless.

Thanks for playing. We have no lovely parting gifts for you.

Actually I did read somewhere last year that the worst RPI team to ever get an at large bid had a RPI in the 70s (the best RPI left out was 21-Missouri state). K-state currently has a RPI in the 80s. So I can kind of see his reasoning- a team with a RPI in the 80s for whatever reason, just doesn't get an at large bid. But that would also contradict his methodology of basing the bracket off projections. Playing in the big 12, K-state's chances of having a RPI in the 70s or much better by the end of the season is excellent. If he was serious, I think he would have a much better argument talking about K-state's very bad loss to start the season.

                      • i want two things from the bracket

a 3 seed or higher, and kansas in the same region
Dominance is a state of mind.

                        • I have not come back to your site in a while since the Final 4 loss to Louisville that you should have won but anyway for the 1st time I looked at the Joe L brackets and was shocked to see you guys were a #2 seed I didn't see that one coming at all and it has nothing to do with how good you are because you just normally don't get that kind of respect, but like someone earlier said brackets mean nothing right now I mean we have not even started conference play for a lot of teams or are 1 game in. I have been doing my own brackets for the last 15+ years and I finally got all 68 teams right for the first time ever last year as I normally get 1 wrong it always seems but not last year!

I play tons of fantasy football so I don't have much time to watch much college basketball until after week 16 ends (the end of our season). Last year I won the NFFC contest came in 1st and 4th place out of 1872 teams cashed a $112,000 check for that and this year while I did not win another $100,000 1st place prize I did finish 16th out of 5808 teams in the FFPC and won 20 championships out of 64 leagues so I can't complain too much.

Anyway back to the point seeding means nothing right now we need to get at least half way through the conf season to start figuring it out.

                          Good luck this year.

                            • So the new Big East team is projected to get a worse seed this year than when they were a Valley team last year?

And yes, it's the top thread on the BJ Board and is now going into page 6 of non-stop WSU jealousy.

They really are hating us this year, as we're the ones with the national headlines and notoriety, as opposed to their biggest season ever in a new conference, that was supposed to catapult their coverage a thousand-fold.

                                Poor BJ's.
