Report: Loyola-Chicago to join MVC

Our doors could already have been beaten down or are currently being beaten down by another league and none of us know - or admit that we know that they are.

If other conferences are after us - I hope it stays quiet until it's official - I remember a few years ago when MSU had an offer from CUSA in a sealed envelope on the AD's desk- they all looked like a bunch of fools - and I have gotten a tremendous amount of mileage from that debacle.


I'm sure the WSU admin feels the same way we do and I highly doubt that they are content with the current situation.

This is what it is. Most on here aren't happy. Me included. But what else was the MVC gonna do? Invite UMKC? This conference has done nothing to help itself as of late. I am in the boat with everyone else that hopes WSU voted for it because they didn't want to look like the guy who was blocking someone entering a league that they had no intentions of staying in.

Best of luck to Loyola. Hopefully they can get the ball rolling and surpasse EU and DU as the door mats. I would be more worried if I was a fan of those two schools because there is a chance that this 230 RPI team from last year will finish ahead of them next season in conference. In fact, I think there is a damn good chance that at least one of them finishes behind Loyola.

At this point we just need Bradley, Missouri St, SIU or Illinois St to step it back up. If one or more of them continue to improve this will be fine. I actually think 3 of the 4 could be better next year, even if just marginally. That will help some. They won't be Creighton level, but they could be capable of at least top 100. That would be ok.

At this point I am over it. Now just have to wait and see.

You can forget about MSU. They will be significantly better next year, but with their $300,000 budget for their coach and $500 Phillips 66 credit card recruiting budget, they have trouble retaining successful coaches.

Yes, but you're forgetting that they handed out a slightly used Ford Fiesta Hybrid. That $500 gas card now goes twice as far!

Creighton had the largest endowment in the Valley. Loyola has a larger endowment and is the largest Jesuit university in the nation and has far more nationally prominent alumni. Loyola has recently spent millions in upgrading athletic facilities and made a commitment to the Valley that they would spend the necessary millions to get their basketball program up to the level of being nationally relevant again. Chicago is the third largest TV market in the nation. But the Valley is taking a huge risk that anyone in Chicago will ever care about college basketball at Loyola. Meanwhile, 5 figure donors at WSU have been quietly told to hang tight, that something is in the works for moving WSU to a better conference. Hawkjaw 86
