  • So they're hoping that alumni from the other Valley schools living in and near Chicago are going to boost attendance?

Exactly. I have a feeling that a number of their homes games are going to feel/sound more like away games for them.

63% actually. And yes, I think that has a big impact on attendance.

Well if they wanted it to be a boy school wouldn't they have named it Loyolo?

                • Don't look now but Loyola is just a couple of spots behind Creighton in the Pomeroy rankings. May get and stay ahead for a while considering Creighton's fall.

                  • Yes, signman, the addition of Loyola is certainly looking better now than it did at first glance. Let's hope they can use their resources to sustain a successful presence. The league has enough small private schools that are not exactly assets right now (i.e., Drake and Evansville, and even Bradley needs to get its act together) that Loyola needs not to be another one.

Whatever anyone wants to say about Creighton's obnoxious fanbase, the fact is that the school was a distinct asset to the league (which is why a higher-profile league invited them to join). Bradley may once again become one; but regardless, Loyola needs to make the CU trade a reasonably even swap.

                    • Loyola's rpi is 76. CU's is 151. Loyola's is going to drop as they play the rpi-drags in the Valley. CU's is going to improve as they continue racking up quality losses.

It could be difficult for LUC to maintain a higher rpi than CU over the long haul, but it may become easier to recruit to a competitive MVC team than to a cellar-eating FormerlyBigEast team. I can't believe that CU squandered a NPoY, Echenigue, and a couple of Sr's over the past several years and never made a S16 with that group.

What would really make me laugh through the entire off-season is if Moser, in his first year of recruiting in the MVC, finished ahead of IlSU, who has the best talent in the league 1-12.
The future's so bright - I gotta wear shades.

It's plummeted thus far since the Big East season began. Nonconference RPI ~60.

They fit quite well into the conference as it exists today. That is not high praise for Loyola.

                            • I've been pleasantly surprised with Loyola this year. They need a couple of bigs next year, and they signed two boarderlone top 100s. Custer, Richardson, Ingram, Jackson with those two should give them 6 solid. They will also get Matt Chastain back from injury. Kirby and Satterwhite are less than average role players, but add depth. They might be decent next year.
