Hopefully Alford has a great run there and we never have to discuss this job opening again.

Interesting, I never heard that. I guess my "blissful denial" paid off and I never had to worry about this possiblity. :)

The job that will get the most rumors about HCGM going by the media in the next year or two is the school that is (Currently) coached by the coach who preceded Tad Boyle at CU.

That program doesn't strike me as being a player anymore. They seem to have taken the third row of seating in their conference.

And I'm equally as certain that UCLA would have been one of the least appealing, maybe THE least appealing, of all the high-profile jobs. Talk about a coach killer situation: that's the epitome, right there. Good luck to Alford -- he's likely to need it, even if it takes a few years for the grinding down to occur. Remember, Ben Howland was The Man for a while, too.

There was and still is a zero chance of Coach Marshall moving to L.A. Not even a sliver of a chance.

Coach Marshall is a southern man through and through. The midwest is about as far as he will travel from the south.

I agree, but it's not gonna stop media speculation should the time come when WF decides to get rid of Jeff Bzdelik which might be one of the worst hires in recent CBB memory.

I'm not concerned about Wake Forest. If there was mutual interest, he would have been interviewed last time.

It's a Mid-Major school in the ACC, along with Georgia Tech.

We're not losing HCGM to Wake Forest. NCSU was a slightly better gig and they failed in luring him away. And that was before the gamechanging success of the last two seasons.

However, Wake isn't a bad job at all. They were ranked #1 in the country as recently as 2009, have 14 Tournament appearances since 1991, and pack in 12-15,000 fans when they're a postseason team. Ron Wellman Deepwater Horizon'd the program when he fired Gaudio (following an NCAA Tournament win over Texas) for underachieving in the postseason then hired his best friend (literally) Jeff Bzdelik. They've sucked hard in the three years since. People in Winston-Salem hate both of them so much that they've received death threats and have multiple websites/petitions devoted to their ouster.
