5 Hour energy drinks work wonders. Several of us make the drive down to Tulsa for road games and come back the same day/night. For the NCAA tournament a couple of us car pooled to Salt Lake. After the Gonzaga game ended I drove from 9:30 PM till almost 7:00 AM. No excuses! :)

Mind Over Matter!

It's like staying at the casinos in St. Louis until 7 am. Go back to the hotel for a two hour nap, watch the championship game, drive home.

There's definitely going to be a bunch of season ticket holders not making this game.

There should, however, be plenty of demand from random people around Wichita to still sell the game out if the season ticket holders can move the tickets. Sell 'em to the guys at McConnell ... no one in the military needs sleep.

What about someone like New Mexico or Arkansas?

I don't know their schedules. Just throwing it out there since they're in the south/southwest.

I was thinking New Mexico as well if a BCS team is too chicken$hit. Other non-BCS teams I hope they consider: Memphis, Louisville, UNLV, Gonzaga, VCU, and practically anyone from the Big East. I think Memphis/WSU would be interesting to TV viewers and is relatively close for both fanbases. ...And to clarify, by non-BCS I mean anyone not a member of the "group of 5" conferences...

I think it's pretty complimentary if we don't end up playing in Dallas. If they can't find a good program that wants to take on a team in their first game off of a Final Four run, on a neutral site, on national television, with us ranked, missing a few starters from last season -- that says to me a lot of programs think we're going to be VERY good next year.

Fair enough, Rlh, but I'd rather have a decent to potentially good RPI game with aTm or LSU (who can complain about WSU's results against LSU lately?), for example, than a game against a SWAC team plus a handful of compliments. Of course, I'm not in the WSU athletic department, and for them ticket revenue figures in as well. But winning games against brand-name opponents and getting some national attention for doing so is a very good way to continue raising the profile of the program, and that has value also.

I think it's pretty clear the athletic department wants the Dallas game. And I'm pretty sure we will take on anyone from a respectable conference. And if it ends up being a home game we won't hurt or rpi as we will be playing a d2 opponent. I like the approach. Wait out the big boys until they ate desperate to fill their schedule.

I don't know if KU is still working on their schedule but Dallas would be a great time for Bill Self to do a turn around. It would be the show case game of the event. BTW, K-State released their joke of a home schedule. Not that I'm dying to play them, but they are robbing fans of both schools of a good rivalry.

KU is full, their schedule was released over a month ago. It's going to have to be someone who really needs a game and we are going to have to get pretty lucky this late in the game. I'm hoping for a miracle but if I were putting odds on it I would give us probably a 20% chance at best of finding someone this late in the game that would be willing to play us. I hope I'm wrong but that's my gut feeling.
