  • I can understand people with families not being able to make a midnight game. Or, at least I can understand the entire family not making the game.

But there are unwed, single men in this thread who have already made an excuse as to why they cannot go. Are you serious? Man up. Surely your life has not been so delicate that you have never had to work a late night or have otherwise had to subsist on less than 8 hours of sleep. Good god.

****, I'm posting this at 4 a.m. and I haven't even been to bed yet. I'm working late. I do it now and then. I'm not special. You can do it too.
The truth will set you free. But first, it will piss you off.

Read that entire thread and tell me that it doesn't sound like a bunch of junior girls getting to sneak into the senior prom. Or a bunch of Amish folk thinking that visiting the city for the first time doesn't make them country folk anymore.

Good Lord are they in for a rude awakening up there. It's going to be fun to watch the slide into Big East oblivion.. a no-namer in a conference that is a former shell of itself.
      Typical ScuM fans.

Hahahahahahahaha. Cold is even someone's signature.

It is true they got the tie breaker game in St Louis. And they deserved it that day. They may have beat a couple of those mid-90's Bulls teams that day. I even think since they lucked out with Wragge sticking around for his 9th season that they would have a good game with us this season. That said, we got out of that rivalry at the right time. Games were about to get bad, and not on our side.

They'll be brought back down when after a few years it's obvious the Big East minus all the public school big boys is nothing more than another mid-major conference, maybe just a hair better than the one they left. They (and all other new BE participants) are borderline paranoid of this little caveat, don't let them fool you. I've seen message board chatter in reference to such on several related boards.

We're the Final Four participant getting almost unbelievable amounts of press and respect on the national level. They're getting no such thing, but that's what happens when your program is historically impotent in the big show.

Let them talk amongst themselves for all I care. No one is noticing outside of their little corner of the world. They're akin to the overleveraged yuppie with the interest-only mortgage and the garage full of leased cars. Their perceived place in the college basketball world is but an image-driven mirage. Reality will come a calling by way of graduation of cornerstone players they have no equivalent replacement for, realization that there's a reason why their coach couldn't hack it at a bottom-feeder BCS program, and a Sixth Sense-like epiphany that their shiny new conference doesn't match the public perception they had hoped for.

Let's not worry too much about what the Fighting Sweater Vests are up to. Our program is on an upward track such that even if CU was still in our conference we would have bigger concerns at this point than our rivalry. The men's basketball program at WSU has become somewhat similar to our baseball team of the 1980's and 1990's; meaning our conference is an afterthought as it relates to our national-level performance and profile.

I understand that it is difficult to keep families up so late. However, I hope people with tickets who can't attend will give or sell them to people who can. My son and I will be there. When I am traveling in the fall and can't attend, I'll make sure my seats are filled by Shocker fans.
Some posts are not visible to me. :peaceful:
Don't worry too much about it. Just do all you can do and let the rough end drag.

Their conference is such a major conference that they lost their ESPN Big Monday spot. The ACC now gets the early game before the Big 12 game. Jack-holes!

                • No worries. Our tickets will be used for the midnight game. I suspect most will. As far as Dallas goes, I will make a road trip if we do get that game. That would fun playing a quality opponent in a great arena.

I dunno. They are in a major conference now. This will entitle them to more exposure. More exposure will put more money into the athletic department budget. More exposure will also result in some better caliber opponents. Sure, they will lose to most of those opponents once the recruiting well 'o nepotism dries up, but eventually, eventually they may start beating some of those opponents.

And if they have more exposure, more money, and can start beating some of these higher caliber opponents, maybe then they can start bringing in higher caliber recruits without having to rely on a family connection.

And then. Man, then. Then they can use the good record against higher caliber opponents and good recruits to get a good seed in the NCAA Tournament. Now, nothing is a given in this world, but man. Get this. If they have a good record against higher caliber opponents and good recruits and got the good seed in the Tournament, maybe, just maybe one day they will make the Final Four.

That's when us WSU fans will get ours. We'll learn. Oh yes, we'll learn.

I'm not sure it's even junior high, but excellent analysis. Be that as it may, I just closed the thread.

I think you went too far out of the zone for which they know. Final Four was a little too far. Sweet 16 would have been easier for them to understand and still would have did the trick.

That's kinda funny. That's what happens when you lose the real drivers of your conference. I think it's hilarious that Creighton fans think the new Fox network makes them even more "big time". The network will be obscure and won't even be picked up by major carriers or without adding on the service. It's below ESPNU's stature right now. Just ask them about Fox Sports One, and they would tell you it's better and more popular than CBS, lol.

They can't help it. They tried to pin the tag on us but when the real colors come out, you can see what happens. They get into some conference full of leftovers and has-beens with the same name and they now think they're "it". That's why when the fall happens, it's gonna make it even more funny to watch.
