Everyone needs to settle down about the parking comment guys. This is just my way at poking fun at most Wichita residents and about their belief that they have to park right at the door. When the new arena was being decided on, planned and built the number one concern was the lack of parking. As I pointed out that there is a great deal of parking available if one walks just a small distance. In the future if you read a comment by me on almost any subject and it seems odd then chances are it is sarcastic in nature. Not that I don't make odd or off the wall comments but most have sarcasm somewhere. Thanks.

Not to derail the thread, but I'm highly disappointed by some negative comments made here and on WSU's recent facebook update concerning the new dorn and it's locale. So many people complaining about parking, but unless something has changed since I was a student (and it hasn't enrollment wise) then there will be plenty of parking on WSU land even with the new dorm.
I can only assume the people bitching about the new dorms are 45 y/o, part-time, non-traditional evening students who care nothing about WSU, outside of it being a vehicle to take them from bucking rivets on the line to pushing paper in a cubicle. If we lose those students (go to Friends U where 6 months worth of Saturday mornings and a true/false final will get you a Bachelors in WhatTheHellIsThat) and gain the same volume of new traditional students by building this new dorm, then WSU will be the better for it. The new dorm is part of Bardo's vision for transforming our school (at least partially) from a commuter school, to an on-campus traditional school, and at least in this alum's eyes I can't thank him enough for it.

The sunflower had an article over it.

The parking lot in question is the most popular one on campus, and is completely filled from 8:30 A.M. to around 3:30 P.M. In general, the RSC, Heskett, and engineering parking lots are also full (the RSC is under construction now though). Depending on how much the dorm takes up, it is quite possible that even the parking lots on the edge of campus will fill up before prime time. Also, remember that students cannot park in a lot of parking lots during game days, further restricting the number of open spaces.

In my years at WSU I literally never parked once, or even attempted such, in the lot where the new dorm is going.
