WuDrWu:
1. In my opinion and experience, Don Beggs does not overreact to things but ignores silly comments, etc. and lets them fade away.
2. The Sunflower is a student paper. It is funded by the students (or their parents - like me.) Many students do not see things the way you see them. If there was a poll of students, I suspect that Ryan's views would have some support - perhaps even a majority of students; think about it - 14,000 or 15,000 students and less than 1000 bother to get free tickets to the games.
3. $750,000 per year is a pretty good salary. If Ryan's comments bother Gregg, he isn't the coach we think he is. If "you" give me $750,000 per year, you can criticize me as much as you want.
4. I agree that calling for the coach's job is just stupid but "karma" - in the form of great seasons in 2008-9 and 2009-10 - can be a biatch. Ryan will have egg on his face in a couple years.
5. The article is labeled as "Commentary by Ryan Cornelius" in the print edition. The word "Commentary" sounds a lot more like "Editorial" than like "factual news story" to me. I think you got your knickers in a wad over this label.
