I don't know that you'll find a cheaper hotel anywhere close. We just booked the last room Hilton had in any of their hotels (at the garden inn by the stadium) and it was $400/night, non-refundable. May be able to get something far away for cheaper. My friend pulled the trigger a little too soon and we're trying to get out of it to go with the alumni package instead since there are guaranteed tix to the games (and rides to the stadium from buckhead)

Remember when Nancy Pelosi said about Obamacare:

A physician called into a radio show and said:
"That's the definition of a stool sample."

Stay in Marietta for $50-75/nt, rent a car and drive the 25 minutes to downtown Atlanta for the games. Cheap rooms are omnipresent on Expedia and Priceline there.

I am staying with friends in Buckhead but there's no way I would shill out close to $500/nt including fees for a hotel in DT ATL. Most of you are old anyways, why drop an extra grand or more to be close to nightlife that you want no part of?

While the convenience and camaraderie of the alumni charter is great if you are booking your own travel or coming in from another town 89 is right. Stay the hell away from downtown....rent a car or take the MARTA and save about 350.00 a night. LA was the same way.....you just have to be willing to do some research and get out of the old comfort zone.
