I do think you have to take into account that Ohio State played a vastly tougher schedule, though ... tOSU at 11 overall, Pitt at 71.

Excellent point. I like to compare games that opponents have lost (because that's where you find the cheenk[sic] in their armor). The common opponent that they both lost to was Michigan.

Pitt lost 62 to Michigan 67 at Michigan
Ohio State lost 74 to Michigan 76 at Michigan (Ohio State beat Michigan at home 56-53)

So even that one common opponent sorta indicates that they are pretty similar, though I totally agree on your SOS comparison.

Good post. Ohio State should win but a WSU win isn't unreasonable. OSU has played a tough schedule and has won 11 straight. The Buckeyes have picked up scoring along the way from some very highly recruited guys that weren't performing up to expectations yet. By the end of the season, OSU was probably the top 1 or 2 best all around teams up there with Louisville.

That being said, I see WSU as capable of outrebounding OSU and using 2nd chance points to build a first half lead like Arizona did. But you have to hit threes.

As for the athleticism vs Arizona.........perhaps UA was more athletic but. I'm not so sure. Craft was the quickest player out there and Thompson had the best vertical as evidenced on his crucial rebounds in the 2nd half . It was comical watching Craft get around Lyons and he other UA guard even though they knew it was moving. Craft is THAT quick and strong.

I'm sticking with:
OSU 72
WSU 69

As much as I want Wichita to win, my real expectation is just for a close game. We don't have to win this game to prove we belong, we just have to be in the game. And as long as we're in the game at the end, anything can happen.

Ohio State has a great team this year ... but while I think they're a better team than Syracuse, we have a MUCH better shot at beating Ohio State than we would Syracuse. It's not just about who is better, and Ohio State's strengths don't hit Wichita's weaknesses. We're actually very similar teams, although obviously tOSU should have the natural talent advantage. Hopefully we have the wanting-it-more advantage >=)

Craft is a hell of a player ... he'd fit in well in Wichita ;)

And there's also the fact that we hardly squeaked by Pittsburgh. We ran them off the court and into tears >=)

If we'd barely gotten past them, I'd be more concerned by a team so similar to them but with a tougher SOS. As it is, I'm still pretty happy with the matchup.

Had to find out what a "Buckeye" was. Come to find out Buckeyes= A small, shiny, dark brown nut with a light tan patch that comes from the official state tree of Ohio, the buckeye tree. So they are just a bunch of nuts that we can pulverize. GO SHOX!!!!!

Having grown up in Central Ohio, this game has me in a quandary. Until I met ShockRef, I’d never heard of Wichita State (shoot, I’d never heard of the Missouri Valley!). I grew up watching the Buckeyes (I’ve been accused of bleeding scarlet and gray), had all my Buckeye memorabilia. Then I met ShockRef, started watching the Shox and fell in love with the team, the school, Wichita and even Wu :) Now I have my Shox memorabilia side-by-side with my Buckeye “stuff”. ShockRef and I have always joked about what colors would I wear, who would I root for should the two teams ever have the opportunity to play each other. Never in my wildest dreams did I think it would actually happen. So come Saturday night, the teams will face each other in a sure-to-be-exciting Elite 8 matchup and he and I will go out to our favorite sports bar to watch the game. What colors WILL I wear? Well, as much of a Buckeye fan as I am and always will be, the Shox have me believing so I’ll be wearing my Shocker colors complete with my lucky Wushock earrings and lucky Shocker socks.

I have a serious butterfly in stomach problem today. And tomorrow will be really bad. I didn't yell at the TV one time last night. I didn't feel the need. I will, however, feel the need during this game. I don't care what Vegas says, because they have been wrong so many times this year. I predict that we all will be proud tomorrow night, regardless. But I also feel that we will all be on cloud 9.
